Continue to F.R.O.G....Fully Rely On God Cooke County Relay For Life May 9-10th. *********************************************************************** Thursday, May 08, 2008-Krista has started to complain that her neck hurts. I looked at her neck and it seemed to be a little puffy. When feeling it, it was very puffy. This has me thinking that something may be wrong with her VP Shunt. So she went to Sherman for a CT scan and several X-rays. We sent all the pictures to Dallas by Fed-Ex so the doctors could compare them to her last scan. We should hopefully know something today. Our 13th annual Relay For Life of Cooke County is tomorrow. I encourage anyone that can come to do so. Come help us Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. Together we can make a difference! Oh...I believe little miss Krista will be singing in the talent show, that alone is a reason to come. Hope to see you there! Thursday, May 01, 2008-MRI was STABLE!!!! Krista will go back in three months for another MRI. Tuesday, April 29, 2008-Today is the day we go for MRI results. Our appointment is at 3:00. PLEASE PRAY for good news. Friday, April 25, 2008-Today was a very long day. Krista had her MRI of her Brain and Spine. Then it took us 2 hours to get home. We were stuck in traffic just about the entire trip home. We are due back to the hospital on the 29th to go over the MRI results with Dr. Bowers. We are keeping our fingers crossed that everything is still stable. Krista has not been on chemo since February. Overall Krista has been feeling ok. Some days are better than others. Thank you all again for your continued support. Friday, April 11, 2008- Krista is doing good. She wrote this beautiful song and I wanted to share it with you all. "Life is like Sunshine" By Krista Brewer Life is like sunshine when you feel going to the pool. When it's kinda warm in the Summer and you don't go to school Life is always like sunshine when you feel like going outside and play with a hula hoop and eating a scoop of ice cream Because, life is like sunshine. How GREAT is that. Just out of the blue she says, "Mommy look I wrote a song." Thank you all for being our "SUNSHINE". Wednesday, April 02, 2008-Well there's not much going on. Krista is doing good. We are still having a hard time making her eat, but other than that all s good. We have decided not to give the last chemo treatment. Krista's counts have not bounced back like they should have. It's like the doctors told us, one more treatment will not cure her. So that's where we are. I think this was the best decision on Krista's part. We have to look at quality of life not quantity. Now hopefully she will start feeling much better and be able to enjoy what's left of her 5th grade year, enjoy her summer and be ready to start the 6th grade. Believe me this was a very hard decision to make. I often wonder if I made the right decision or not. Please pray for Krista these next few months will tell us a lot. Her next MRI is scheduled for April 25th. Thursday, March 27, 2008-Krista's counts have not come up much. She seems to be feeling ok with the exception of today, we believe she may have had a seizure at school this afternoon. Once I got to the school she was eating lunch and kidding around with everyone. She is a little tired right now. So, we will keep a close eye on her tonight. Thursday, March 20, 2008-Krista did not receive chemo this month. Her counts are not coming up like we would like them to. She has had some really goods and she has had some not so good days. I think right now she is feeling some what better. She will go for blood counts again next Wednesday. The playroom is finished. It looks amazing!!! I can't keep the girls out of there, they love it.I just wanted to say THANK YOU to the FBC Koinina Sunday School Class and also to Wal-Mart and to the employees at the Texas Cancer Center. Thank you to everyone that helped make Krista's wish come true. Most of all thank you for rmaking our angel smile. I hope to have pictures of the playroom on here soon. Friday, March 07, 2008-Krista has been doing pretty good. Her counts have been ok so far. No blood transfusions this time as of right now. We go back to Dallas next Friday for her next to last round of chemo. This to me is a very scary thing. After April we venture off into the world of the unknown again. And this time I am absolutely terrified, knowing that there is no cure for Krista. So please keep Krista and our family in your thoughts and prayers. On another note, Krista's playroom is being made over. We are decorating it with a Dr. Pepper theme. So if you know any place that has really cool Dr. Pepper stuff please let us know. Our community has been wonderful with the playroom makeover. We still have a long way to go on it, but it's going to be wonderful! Thank you to everyone involved! It snowed!!! Yes here in Gainesville. We measured right at 7 1/2 inches around 3:00 yesterday. It was just snowing and snowing, I wish I had measured it again before it started to melt.. I have not seen that much snow in a very long time. Saturday, February 23, 2008-We just got back from Dublin Tx, home of the Dublin Dr. Pepper. We just wanted to say thank you to Kenny, Pretty Peggy Pepper and the Dodd's. I haven't seen Krista smile that much in a very long time. She is still smiling. Thank you for making all us feel like a VIP-Very Important Pepper! Krista is going to have the best decorated play room ever Dr. Pepper Style. Thank you again, see ya in June! Thursday, February 21, 2008-Krista's counts were good. There have been several people asking about Krista's wish, I am sorry to say that she did not qualify for it. But that's o.k. Krista does not know yet so if you see Krista please don't say anything to her. How do I tell her that she is not getting her wish? I do have some good news...we are surprising Krista on Saturday with a trip to Dublin Texas to take a tour of the Dublin Dr. Pepper plant. For those of you that know Krista, you know that is her favorite drink. My mom called down there and they are setting up something extra special for Krista. This is really exciting because this was one of her wishes, so thank you to my mom and to everyone at the Dublin Dr. Pepper plant for making Krista's wish come true. Tuesday, February 19, 2008-Krista is feeling better. She started her 5th round of chemo on Friday. Krista will go for blood counts tomorrow. Thank you all for your notes of encouragement for Krista as well as our family. We have had some really good days and some really bad days here lately emotionally. But, we will get through them all, one day at a time. Wednesday, February 06, 2008-Krista is still feeling like curd. Her counts today were so,so. Krista will be going to Dallas Friday for a blood transfusion. Hopefully this will help make her feel better since her chemo will start up again next week. Tuesday, February 05, 2008-Krista has been a sick little girl. She is fighting the CRUD. She has no energy. I do believe tomorrow when she goes for blood work that she may need a transfusion. Krista finally came up with 4 wishes. We are turning in the paperwork today. Krista is very excited. Thank you to The Wishing Well! Tuesday, January 29, 2008-Our dear friend Linda Parsons received her wings Sunday morning. Please pray or her family. I wanted to say Thank You to everyone for coming out Saturday night to support the Parsons Benefit. What a great turn out, this community is absolutely amazing. Krista has a cold right now, so she is running a little slow. I will take her to Sherman tomorrow for more blood work. Keep your fingers crossed that all is well. Friday, January 25, 2008-MRI is STABLE!!!!!!! Doctor B was very happy with the results of the MRI. He stated that if we had asked him in April of 2007 if in January of 2008 we would have stable scans he would have doubted it. But then again he did say that Krista is truly a unique little girl. It's hard to compare Krista with another case because there are no others like Krista. We are coming up on the one year mark of treatment. The protocol for this treatment is 12 months. Doctor B did say that Krista has had more chemo in her 10 years of life than any child should ever have. There are great risk with this. So in April her treatments will come to an end. She will be monitored very closely with doctor visits and regularly schedule scans. This is the scary part. Our ANGEL is on borrowed time and I am not ready to give her back. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we tough decisions ahead of us all. Thursday, January 24, 2008-Krista's counts were good. We will be going to Dallas tomorrow for a MRI of the head and spine. We may very well stay in Dallas tonight so we don't have to travel on the icy roads they are forecasting for tomorrow. We should know the results late tomorrow. Please pray with us that all of the MRI is stable. Thank you all again for your continued support. Wednesday, January 23, 2008-Krista has been feeling like she is off balance. She is also a tired and very pale. She still has a little over a week of chemo to take. Krista goes for blood counts today. We are keeping our fingers crossed that her counts are o.k. Thank you for your continued support for Krista and our family. Please pray for Linda Parsons as she continues her fight with cancer. Please pray for the families of Victoria Enmon and Taylor Hall as these two beautiful young ladies fought the fight and now they have become ANGELS. Wednesday, January 16, 2008-Krista's visit to Dallas went good today. They did change up one of her medicines (not her chemo). After Krista's check up we had lunch at the PURPLE COW, then we went across the street to pick up Krista's chemo. So now she is starting her 4th cycle of chemo. We go back to Dallas on the 25th for MRI's. Krista is still racking her brain about her WISH! Wednesday, January 16, 2008-We are off to Dallas today. Krista has an appointment with her Oncologist he we are picking p her chemo in Dallas also. Krista's counts have been up and down. Her WBC is still petty low, but her HGB is good. Since my last update Shelby has turned 15. She makes me feel really old! We received a wonderful phone call from The Wishing Well they are granting Krista a WISH!!! Krista is having a VERY hard time on what to ask for. She told me last night maybe a new board game, but she would keep thinking. What a great kid. Most kids would be blurting out all kinds of things and Krista can't think of anything. Thank you to The Wishing Well for giving Krista this wish she is very excited. Thursday, January 03, 2008-The girls had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Krista has been overly blessed with so many great items over the past ten years, it was hard to find places to put her new toys. Krista got an Easy Bake Oven, needless to say she is our little chef. She has the apron and hat to prove it. I took Krista for blood work yesterday and her counts were awful. She will be going to Dallas today for a blood transfusion. Blood transfusion are always so much fun all you do is sit and wait, sit and wait. Krista generally sleeps a lot while we are there. Please keep Krista in you thoughts and prayers. Thursday, December 13, 2007-Krista went to Children's yesterday for lab work. Her counts were good! We were able to speak with Dr. Winick, she was Krista's oncologist when she was first diagnosed in 1997. We just love Dr. Winick!. She is so personal when it comes to Krista. She tells you just what she thinks. She hides nothing. She is just an amazing doctor and friend. They did put Krista on a new medicine for depression. We have not had our spunky little Krista in such a long time. They said after everything she has gone through and everything she is currently going through, she more than likely has some form of depression. Krista will visit with a Child Life Specialist next month to see if she will talk about anything that is bothering her. I did ask her the other day if she was tired of fighting and she did not say a word. So I wonder sometimes what her true feelings are. Please pray for her continued strength to fight this terrible disease. Friday, December 07, 2007-Krista is feeling much better. She is still coughing he head off, but feeling better. This evening we went downtown. We rode around downtown in a horse drawn carriage listening to Christmas Carolers. Krista and Shelby were making their Christmas list in the Chocolate Shop. Everyone needs to play Krista's game. Thanks, Michael, the website looks GREAT! Krista loves to play her game. Wednesday, December 05, 2007-Krista has been very tired and is not feeling her best right now. Her counts are down and now she is sick. I took her to the doctor today, they loaded her up on medicines. I am just glad she felt good enough for the parade. Justin drove the Grand Marshall car. It was wonderful watching them cruising down the street, Krista waving and smiling so BIG. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for giving us this memory we will never forget. I have a request...If anyone knows Briannon Cleveland, I would like to know how she is doing. I hear that her health is bad. If there is anything that we can do... please let us know. Tuesday, November 27, 2007-Krista has been asked to be the GRAND MARSHALL in our Christmas Parade. How exciting is that!! Now we just need the ran to stay away on Saturday. Krista will be going for blood work tomorrow, keep your fingers crossed that her counts are good and have not dropped to much. Krista has been really tired the last couple of days. Krista was really excited about the snow this past weekend, too bad it did not stick. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Friday, November 16, 2007-Last night Krista received SECOND place at the Science Fair. Way to go kiddo! Last night she also started her 3rd cycle of chemo. I just prayer that her counts stay good, considering she will still be on chemo during Thanksgiving. Thank you for all the comments and encouraging words. Krista really loves to read them. Wednesday, November 14, 2007-Ten years ago we were told that our baby girl at the age of 4 months had brain cancer and the odds were not in her favor. They never believed she would make it through surgery much less would she be able to handle to chemo. Here we are 10 years, and 3 different cancers later. She just absolutely amazes me more and more every day. She does not let this terrible disease get in her way. She is living life to the fullest. Everyday with our Angel is a HOLIDAY. Krista's counts were good!!! She will start her 3rd cycle of chemo tomorrow. I am a little concerned, Krista has come home from school the last couple of days saying she was woozy and she has had a few headaches in the past couple of days. I'm sure it's nothing. I just hope she is not one of these nasty bugs going around. Krista is not eating very much right now. When she does eat it's not very much at all. Friday, November 09, 2007-Krista had blood work done on Wednesday. Her counts are up a little bit. Now we are waiting on the Dr. to call to see if and when Krista will start her chemo again. It's been almost a month since her last chemo. It seems like forever, since I am use to giving it to her every two weeks. Krista has been really tired this week, but I think she is feeling ok. Saturday, November 03, 2007-Krista has not started her third cycle of chemo yet. Her ANC was only 592, so that means no chemo until it comes up. Krista will go for more blood work on Wednesday. Please pray that her counts come back up so we can keep fighting this horrible disease. Thursday, November 01, 2007-Krista had a really good time last night. After being at the hospital all day she was a little tired. Her scans went good. They did call us yesterday to let us know that the report said everything was STABLE, but with some enhancement. Not real sure what that means, so the Doctor is suppose to call me back today. Hopefully she can start her chemo again on Saturday. Tuesday, October 30, 2007- Krista will be Trick or Treating at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. She is going to the hospital for an MRI and lab work. This will tell us if the oral chemo is working or not. Krista is due to start her 3rd cycle of oral chemo Wednesday, but they do not want to order it yet. They want to see what the MRI shows first. This will be one of the scariest appointments she has had in a long time. If this oral chemo is not working I am not real sure what they will do next. By giving Krista chemo of any kind we are just buying her time, since there is NO CURE for her cancer. Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through the day tomorrow. Send her notes of love and encouragemnt please.Tuesday, October 23, 2007-Krista had a blood transfusion last Thursday. She is still fighting a cold. But I think she feels o.k. She finished her 2nd cycle of chemo like a champ. I just got back from a Summit Training with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and I have to say it was one of the hardest weekends for me. They were always talking about finding a cure for cancer and knowing that right now there is no cure for Krista's cancer, it was really hard to sit there for 2 days. But that's why I was there to help find a cure. That's why we RELAY. That's why my fellow TEXANS...vote "YES" for Proposition 15. Early voting has already started, so PLEASE vote for Proposition 15 to help find a cure for Krista. Thursday, October 11, 2007-Krista is doing good. Her counts are a little but not to bad. We did have a scare on Tuesday night. Krista slumped over the desk at home raised up with her hand on her chest saying it hurt to breath. Justin carried her to the couch. She couldn't breath and was in so much pain and Krista never, ever complains of pain. I took her to our local ER, , they ran all kinds of test and did x-rays. After laying in the ER in horrific pain for about 2 1/2 hours it just stopped! During all of this she wanted us to push on her upper back. That was a very exhausting night. We have no idea what happened...so as they say just another KRISTA FACTOR! Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers. Monday, October 1, 2007-To all of our Krista fans.....Krista will be on KISS FM tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is also KIDDS KIDS DAY, so open your HEARTS and your WALLETS and help send these children and their families on a once in a lifetime vacation where they can just be KIDS. Our family was very blessed to go on this trip 2 years ago. It was absolutely amazing! Words cannot describe how special each and everyone of those children felt. Krista did not feel her best during the beginning of the trip, but she made the best of it. She still talks about how Big Al was screaming like a girl on the spinning tea cups...it's ok Big Al...we still love ya! I will never forget when Rich and Troy asked her what her favorite part of the first day at Disney World was and she replied, " I saw a duck takin a dump". It was great, only Krista would respond like that. That was one moment I will never forget. Please, if you get a chance, listen Tuesday morning.....p.s."Mascara Alert". Thank you to everyone that helps make this amazing trip possible every year. Your are my HEROES!!! Krista is doing really good. She actually has a little peach fuzz growing on that cute little bald head of hers. She is keeping up in school and making great grades. She amazes me more and more everyday. For a child that has been told "You have CANCER and there is NO CURE", if she had hair you probably would not even know she was sick. Krista has already had 2 different brain tumors and now fighting bone cancer I do believe she is truly a MIRACLE, an ANGEL sent to us straight from heaven. I hope someday Krista will realize how many lives she has touched. But right now she is just a 10 year old little girl living life as everyday is a holiday. Krista is due to go back to Dallas on Oct. 3rd, we will be there for another long 8 hours of never ending blood work and to start the second cycle of this new oral chemo. Please keep Krista in you thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for your continued support! Don't forget to listen in tomorrow morning on KISS FM. Wednesday, September 19, 2007-Sorry it's been so long since my last updated. Krista is tolerating the new oral chemo much better than the other. There are some days when she is really tired. Her counts have been good, much better than before. Yesterday we spent 8 hours at Children's getting PK's done and doing other test. Dr.Bowers came in to talk with us and he told us that Krista's CT scan was STABLE!!!! This was very good news, considering she went half of the summer without any chemo. Once again we will take stable...I would much rather he had told us it as all gone, but stable is great. This whole process just seems to get harder and harder every time we walk through those doors. It just rips me apart to see Krista screaming and crying because they are putting in an IV to inject the nuclear med that they need for one of the test. The medicine that they inject is very cold so it hurts when it is injected. At this point yesterday I was just ready to come home. So needless to say yesterday was a very long day for us all, especially for Krista. Hasn't she already been through enough in the past 10 years. No one person should ever have to go through something like this their entire life, especial a child. I just wish I could take it all way from her, because I would in a heart beat. I hate to see my little angel suffer so much...it's just not fair. Thank you all once again for your continued prayers and support for my little angel and family. Krista loves to read all of her messages so keep them coming. Keep FROG'n!!! Friday, September 07, 2007-Krista started her oral chemo on Wednesday. It was a very long day. We were in Dallas all day doing lots of different kinds of test, fighting with the insurance company and trying to find a pharmacy that could make the medicine for us. It was a very hard day for Krista, but she seems to be handling the medicine very well. She will take 2 doses every day for 14 days. Basically it's 2weeks on...2 weeks off. Krista will go for blood counts next Wednesday and then back to Dallas for more testing on the 18th. Thank you all for your continued support! Tuesday, September 04, 2007-Hope you all had a good weekend. Ours was very busy. Krista goes tomorrow for her first round of oral chemo. Dr. Bowers called Friday night to let us know that insurance will pick up their part of the chemo. At first they were not wanting to pay for it. Dr. Bowers wrote a letter of medical necessity to the insurance company. Thank you Dr.Bowers! Krista is still feeling pretty good. Other than having to do homework every night I think she is enjoying school. Friday, August 31, 2007-School is going ok for Krista. She is getting very tired at the end of the day. Once she starts the oral chemo I don't think she will be able to go to school all day. But we will take on day at time. If she can only go to school for half of the day then that's what we will do. Tuesday, August 28, 2007-Yesterday was the first day of 5th grade. Krista did really good. Today was even better! She has to do a lot of walking so we are taking her wheelchair to school tomorrow. Shelby made it through her first day as a Freshman. I don't think it was a very good day but she made it. I believe today was a little better. I spoke with Krista's Oncologist today and we are trying to get the insurance company to pay for her oral chemo. These medicines are very expensive. But at this point if this is what she needs to be taking then I will find a way to pay for it one way or another. Krista is scheduled to meet with the doctors on Sept. 5th. Please pray that Krista continues to feel great. Also that the insurance company will come through for us. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and prayers. Tuesday, August 14, 2007-As some of you know Krista did not get treated last week. Her counts were down so they gave her blood. I am kinda glad that they did that, she has felt so good these last few days. With school starting and all I think it is a good thing. We also talked about changing up her chemo. One of our options was a chemo that would be given oral at home. This would mean less time in the hospital. So now I am waiting to hear back from Doctor. Hopefully we will know something this week. Monday, August 06, 2007-Krista is feeling somewhat better. I will be real surprised if the give her chemo this week. Her counts are just not bouncing back like they should. We did do a little school clothes shopping this weekend but nothing to extreme. I could not stand everyone starring and whispering as I pushed my bald and beautiful little girl in her wheelchair. I just want to tell them, please don't stare and whisper if you want to know what's wrong with her just ask, I would love to tell you. Krista will notice when someone is starring at her and it just kills me to see the sadness in her eyes. So anyway, Krista is due to be admitted on August 8-10 for chemo. Please pray that all goes well. Thank you all again for your continued support and prayers. Monday, July 30, 2007-Krista had a pretty good day yesterday. She seem to feel a lot better. This has just been the longest couple of weeks since chemo. It seems like this round just totally wiped her out. I HOPE and PRAY that on Wednesday her counts are back up. Thursday, July 26, 2007-Krista has been kinda tired since her chemo. Krista blood work has been down of course. This week some of it was up a little, some of it was still down a little. These next two weeks should be better. Saturday, July 14, 2007-Chemo absolutely wore Krista out this time. She slept all day Thursday and Friday. I did get to talk with the Geneticist about the mutated gene they found in Krista's blood work. She told me that there are ONLY 400 families known to have this gene (P53/Li-Fraumeni Syndrome). Just about an hour ago(3:30 p.m.) Krista started to talk and interact with us again. She just totally shuts off when she is getting this chemo. It is so hard to watch her just lay in the bed moaning and groaning, not telling me if she hurts or if she feels sick. It makes me feel absolutely helpless! I wish everyone could spend just one day with us to experience what we deal with on a daily basis. I do believe it could change a lot of lives. I would hope it would give others a new out look on life. In other news.....Shelby will be leaving tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. for Mission Trip to New Orleans. Shelby, I hope you have a GREAT time. We love you and will miss you! Wednesday, July 11, 2007-Krista's week as gone really good so far. Monday and Tuesday she went to Gran-Gran's Camp with some of her friends they had a blast. They did crafts, a little cooking, sewing and swimming. Needless to say when she got home yesterday she was wiped out! We are leaving today for another round of chemo. Krista will be in the hospital July 11-13th at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers as this chemo is so hard on her little body. Friday, July 06, 2007-Things have been going pretty good since the last update. Krista has not had any anymore seizures. We enjoyed a relaxing July 4th. Krista is due for another round of chemo July 11-13th. Awhile back Krista had some genetic testing done to see if we could figure out why she has had 3 PRIMARY types of cancer. The results came back that Krista has a mutated gene called P53 Gene (Li-Fraumeni Syndrome). Li-Fraumeni Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by hereditary mutation in a cancer susceptibility gene. They did tell me that they don't believe that Justin or i carry this gene. They believe that it has STARTED with Krista. But we are still going to do all the genetic testing just to make sure for Shelby's sake. Saturday, June 30, 2007-We are home!!! After rushing to the ER, waiting forever in the ER, doing test after test and only about 2 hours of sleep. We have no idea what really was going on with Krista. They do believe that it was some kind of seizure they are not real sure just what kind it was though. Once we got in the truck to leave for Dallas she stop having the seizures of course. She has not had one since about 8:30 Wednesday night. Her CT Scan showed no changes, all the X-rays were normal, the EEG showed to be normal except for that fact that they did see some loss of brain activity on one side. They let us come home about 3:30 Friday afternoon. They told us to watch her very closely over the next 48-72 hours. If she happens to have another seizure to come back and they could do further testing. So here we go yet again off into the unknown. This was one of the scariest moments of my life. Watching Krista just sit there jerk after jerk, looking up at me like what is going on. Please continue to pray for Krista we are not out of the woods just yet. Krista should start her chemo back up July 11-13th. Thursday, June 28, 2007-We are rushing Krista to the ER in Dallas. She seems to be having mild seizures. I will update once I know something. PLEASE PRAY FOR MY BABY!!! Sunday, June 24, 2007-WE ARE HOME!!! Krista's surgery went very good. They were able to do it by scope. Which is great news to start with. Krista had a chest tube for 2 1/2 days. She had very little pain, they ran an epidural through the chest tube to keep the lung numb. Thursday night was a very sleepless night. They were in her room it seem like every 10-15 minutes doing something to her. Friday night was a little better. Krista felt better Friday and by Saturday she was BORED out of her mind. Dr. Bowers came in yesterday morning and said that he had some good news. The mass that Dr. Megison removed was NOT tumor. They are still not real sure what it is. It real does not look like anything(...hmm image that...only in Krista). The Pathologist is still watching it very closely. Dr. Megison came in shortly after that and said that they would get another chest x-ray...see what it shows and take out the chest tube. The x-ray was good...out came the chest tube. Now we wait for about 6 hours to see if there is any leakage or air pockets that develop. After waiting forever (it seemed like forever) another Dr. came in and said that the x-ray showed a small Pneumo Thorax (an air pocket in the lung). They gave us the option of staying another night for them to observe Krista and do another x-ray or we could go home and observe her. So we decided to come home. I made some calls and found an O2 Sat Machine. This keeps Krista's O2 level to make sure that she is getting enough oxygen, and Monday we are going to Sherman to have a chest x-ray done. Dr. Bowers is wanting to start Krista back on her chemo in about 7-14 days. Now that we know this mass is not a tumor we need to continue the fight of everything else. Krista absolutely amazed me this week. Just a few hours after surgery see was walking to the restroom, sitting up in bed, coloring, eating and drinking. She is just amazing!!! Thank you all! Thank you for the continued support and prayers for our little ANGEL. Thursday, June 21, 2007-Today is the day. Krista is having surgery today. I will try and keep this updated as we are in the hospital. It is kinda hard sometimes to get on the internet while we are there. God please watch over Krista and the doctors today. Please embrace her with your arms wrapped ever so gently around her. Please pray for: Dr. Megison, Dr. Houge and everyone else involved with the surgery. Krista's strength and courage as she endures another surgery. Monday, June 18, 2007-Well where do I start? I woke up last night to the sound of the t.v. broadcasting that we were under a tornado warning at 4:00 this morning. A couple of hours later Shelby and I walked outside to a see the flooding. Half of Gainesville is under water. We are very lucky our house did get some water in it but a lot of others lost everything. Some were stranded on top of their houses, and some were pulled from the raging waters. God, please watch over these families. We will be leaving for Dallas on Wednesday for Pre-Op stuff and then Krista's surgery will be Thursday @ 11:00. She is still feeling really good, except for her cough. Please pray for the doctors that will be working on Krista. Please pray for Krista to keep this amazing strength that she has. she was laughing her head off at some cartoon. I asked her how she was feeling and she said that her tummy hurt a little bit. Now she's asleep on the couch. I think all that playing today made her tired. Wednesday, June 13, 2007-Dr. Bowers called this evening about 5:30. The biopsy they did was not good enough. They have spoke with a surgeon and they all agree that we need to remove this mass. If it is a tumor it will be gone. If it is an infection it will be gone. And then we will for sure know what we are dealing with. So now we wait to hear back from the surgeon about the surgery. It will more than likely be early next week. They can operate 1 of 2 ways, (1) by scope, (2) by open surgery. With the open surgery they would have to make a 5-6" incision on her left side and a chest tube after the surgery that would be left in for a couple of days. With the scope surgery she would only have 2-3 small incisions and possibly a chest tube. Having a chest tube would put us in ICU for a couple days. I hate to put Krista through such trauma but we have to figure out what is going on in there! We can not treat her with chemo right now until we figure all of this out. So we are damned if we do and damned if we don't. Krista is feeling so good right now expect for that awful cough. So that's where we are right now. As soon as I know more I will let you know. Wednesday, June 13, 2007- I have left a message for the Dr. to call me about the results of the biopsy. I assume that they should already know something. As soon as I hear from them I will update. Tuesday, June 12, 2007-Krista's biopsy went ok. It was such a long day, we got there at 9:30 and left at 5:15. It seemed like all we did was wait, and wait. They did the biopsy on Krista's left lung. It looks like they went in two spots, one on her chest right under her heart and the other was on her left side. I stayed home with her today, she is kinda sore. I will be calling the Dr. today to see what the game plan is and how long it will take for the results. Sunday, June 10, 2007-We had a great time this weekend. Today we really good. We got up this morning and went to see "Surf's Up". Then off the Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. But the best part of the day was the Kidd's Kids Reunion at the Ballpark in Arlington with KISS FM. We got to visit with Kidd, Kellie, Big Al, Shanon, JC and Taylor. We also got the catch up with some of the friends that we made on our Kidd's Kids trip. We did not get to stay for the game, Krista was getting tired and we have to get up early in the morning for the biopsy. As we were leaving Krista had a nose bleed, so it's a good thing we left when we did. I think she just got to hot. Please help us pray as Krista endures yet another biopsy. Saturday, June 09, 2007-Late yesterday afternoon I got a call from Children's Hospital. Krista has to be at the hospital Monday morning at 10:30 for the biopsy of her lung. Please pray that everything goes as planned and she is not admitted. This weekend we are staying at the Embassy Suites by Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine TX. Last night we went to the Rain Forrest Cafe. The girls had so much fun! Today we are going to the Dallas World Aquarium and maybe a max museum. I need to try and get everyone up so we can start our day.!!! Friday, June 08, 2007-Dr. Bowers called about 4:00 yesterday. When he calls it's never good. CT of the Brain is stable. CT of the Abdomen is clear. CT of the Pelvis is stable. MRI of the Brain is worrisome...there is some concern about the tumor at the back of the head getting bigger. Portions of the tumor are lumpier than they were last time. CT of the Chest, the nodule in the lung has changed. It is questionably bigger. It now has a cavity instead of looking solid. It went from being about 1cm to about 3cm. It is very hollow with a ring around it looking like fluid. He said that this is either an infection or tumor. We need to find out what it is before Krista can have her next treatment. If it is infection then we need to get Krista started on antibiotics, if it is a tumor then we need to change everything. So one way or the other Krista's chemo for this month is more than likely postponed. So now I am waiting for the Radiologist to call so we can set up a date to do a needle biopsy of the nodule in Krista's lung. I pretty sure that it will be one day next week. Right now we need the POWER of PRAYER. I am trying to be strong but it gets harder and harder. Just when you think things are going o.k. you get pushed right back down. Thursday, June 07, 2007-Sorry...I know it's been awhile since my last update. Our internet has been messed up. Krista has had her MRI, an Echocardiogram and CT Scan of her whole body. We do not know any of the results just yet. I should hear from the doctors today, because Krista had to get her blood counts done yesterday. We do know that Krista is NOT pregnant!!! Now that she is "10" years old she has to have a pregnancy test done every time she has a scan done. Keep your fingers crossed and prayer extra hard today that we get good results from the doctors. Wednesday, May 30, 2007- The school called about 2:40 and said that Krista's nose had been bleeding for about 10-12 minutes. I called the hospital and they told us that if it does not stop in the next few minutes that we would have to come to Dallas for more Platelets. It did stop bleeding. So we went to Sherman to get her counts done. Her Platelets were a little low, so now we PRAY for no more nose bleeds. If she has another one we have to go to Dallas for another transfusion of Platelets. Tonight is the Benefit Hamburger Supper at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Tomorrow we will be traveling to Dallas for an MRI. Please PRAY for good results. Also tomorrow Shelby will be GRADUATING from Jr. High School at 7:00. Sunday, May 27, 2007-Things kinda went down hill for Krista late Thursday night. Friday morning we rushed her to Dallas. She was very lethargic and was complaining her chest hurt, she was also breathing real hard. Once we got there, they immediately drew blood. Her counts came back so bad they could not believe she was alert and walking. They drew blood again because they could not believe that they were that low. The second time they drew blood her counts did come back somewhat better. At this point they are telling us that Krista is CRITICAL. They admitted Krista into the hospital. She needed lots of blood and platelets. Krista was so low on blood they had the give her small amounts very slowly...I mean like 1 oz. a hour. Krista went through 3 bags of blood and 1 bag a platelets. While Krista was getting the platelets she had an allergic reaction to them. They are still a little concerned because her potassium level has not come up. And this still has Krista in the CRITICAL level. They did let us come home yesterday but she has to take 6 potassium pills a day and we have to have her levels checked on Wednesday. Please pray that Krista's little body will bounce back quickly. She really needs to get those counts back up. Wednesday, May 23, 2007-Tonight I do believe we made some new friends for life. HUGE Thank Yous go out to: Glenn Springs Holdings Inc., Tex-Star, CK Steel Buildings and A-1 Sprinkler. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We were asked to dinner and as we walked into The Main Street Pub, we were overwhelmed with friends and a lot of them we were just meeting for the first time. Krista was greeted with lots of wonderful gifts and donations. Thank you to everyone involved. A special thank you to Scott Hazel with Tex-Star and Clegg Hazel from W.E.Chalmers(who provides ice cream for Krista at school), "Doc" Heath with Glenn Springs Holdings, Shane Lee with A-1 Sprinkler and Chad Kelley with CK Steel Buildings. Tonight was awesome and it continues to amaze us how the community rallies around our ANGEL. Thank you all once again.....and thanks to The Main Street Pub for putting up with us, you did a great job! Wednesday, May 23, 2007-Yesterday Krista went to Sherman for her weekly blood counts. They were o.k., her red counts was low, but her ANC was good. So now we wait to see what the doctors say. Krista has been kinda tired lately so some blood might do her good. Last night we attended Shelby's sports banquet. She received "Outstanding Cheerleader Award". Shelby we are so very proud of you! This morning W.E. Chalmers presented Krista and Haylie with their checks from the Basketball Tournament. It was a very emotional morning. Thank you to everyone at Chalmers. You all have been such a blessing to Krista and our whole family. Sunday, May 20, 2007-Krista is feeling pretty good today. The 2nd round of chemo is done! Everything was pretty much the same as it was last month. She lost all muscle control again. I tried to video what Krista goes through while she is having chemo but it was hard. Thank you to everyone that signed Krista's guest book while she was in the hospital. Thanks to everyone that came to visit Krista also. We were excited that she actually ate something all three days that we were there. We got into town a little after 6:00 on Friday evening and went straight up to the High School where they were having the Basketball Tournament. Krista enjoyed watching all of her favorite people running up and down that court. She was not able to stay long but she still had fun. Thank you to everyone that helped organize the tournament, to everyone that played in the tournament, worked the tournament and to everyone that came to support Krista and Haylie. You are all MIRACLE WORKERS!!! Sunday, May 13, 2007-This has been an amazing week!!! Tuesday was the shopping spree, Wednesday Krista's counts were great, Friday she had a wonderful PJ Birthday Party at school also on Friday we had our 12th annual Relay For Life, and today she had a great last minute Birthday Party. Krista will go to school Monday and Tuesday then back to Dallas on Wednesday-Friday for chemo. While we are in Dallas, Krista will have another Birthday Party at Children's Medical Center in her Penthouse Suite on the 10th. Krista had a huge surprise waiting for her Friday night at the Relay For Life. Some very dear new friends from New Orleans "PINKED" her ride. They painted Krista's wheelchair Hot Wheels Hot Pink. Thank you so much to Rachel and Collisionxperts and to everyone else that helped with the whole process. We will have photos of the wheelchair soon. Susan Hughes...You amaze me. You always have so much on your plate. You are my HERO!!! We make an AWESOME team if I do say so my self. Thank you for always being there for me. Julie Sablar...Thank you for being you. You have done a wonderful job this year and we are very proud of you. Keep your chin up. We love you here in Cooke County!!! Mike Dunn...Thank you for writing that great song about Relay For Life. Most of all thank you for taking the time to come and sing it for us at Relay. I love your spirit!!! Go RELAY!!! Thursday, May 10, 2007-Krista's counts were good again...YEAH!!!! Krista had the time of her life on her shopping spree at Wal-Mart. Thank you to the Sanger Wal-Mart Distribution Center and to Gainesville Wal-Mart. You guys did an awesome thing for Krista. She is still smiling. Thursday, May 03, 2007-Krista's counts were really good yesterday. She is feeling GREAT! We laughed so hard last night over nothing at all. Her little laugh is so contagious. I just love it. Krista told me yesterday that she was ready to shave her hair. It is falling out like crazy. So at 7:00 tonight our friend Janie will be shaving Krista's hair off. I thank GOD each and every day for her Strength, Courage, Hope and Faith that she keeps everyday no matter how bad she may feel. Thank you all again for everything you have done. Thank you for making Krista SMILE! Tuesday, May 01, 2007-Krista is feeling pretty good. She still has her cough, the good thing is NO FEVER! Krista's hair is starting to fall out again. I think she is o.k .with it this time. Her spirit seems to be good right now. Thank you to everyone that has sent Krista a Webkinz or Lil' Kinz. She is trying to come up with names for them all. May is a very busy month. First Baptist Church of Gainesville is having a Rummage Sale for Krista on May 4-5th. May 8th Krista will be working on her shopping skills...she has been given a Shopping Spree!! Relay For Life is May 11-12th. Krista's school is giving her a Birthday party on May 11th. Krista's 10th Birthday is May 15. Chemo is scheduled for May 16-18th. May 18th GISD is doing a Benefit Basketball game to benefit Krista and Haylie Chase. First Baptist is also doing a Hamburger Supper for Krista and Julie on May 30th. Thank you to everyone that has helped make Krista SMILE!!! Wednesday, April 25, 2007-The doctors called today and said that Krista's counts were low. Her ANC was 240....not so good. So now we have to watch for fever and keep an eye on her cough. Krista had a great time on her field trip they went to Casa Manana Theatre in Fort Worth to see Narnia-the musical. Krista said it was really great! Please pray that her counts do not drop any more and that her cough will go away and not cause any problems. Tuesday, April 24, 2007-Krista is doing good. She has a little cold, but other than that she is good. We went to Dallas today for blood counts and physical, all was good. Next week is when her counts are expected to drop. So in the mean time, Krista will be going on fields trips Wednesday and Thursday and Friday they only go to school for a half of a day. Thank you to everyone for sending Krista the Webkinz. If you send her one please include your name and address so we can send you a picture of Krista and her Webkinz. Thank you all again for all the prayers, thoughts and wonderful emails. Thank you for making Krista SMILE!!! Saturday, April 21, 2007-Krista did ok during her chemo. We got home about 12:45 Thursday morning. She never got sick, but there were other side effects that we did not like at all. Krista is on Ifosfamide and Doxorubicin. The Ifosfamide makes her extremely sleepy and while it is running through her, she has no control of her muscles. This was one of the saddest things I think I have ever seen. Krista would try to color or even hold anything and it was just fall. The Doxorubicin is red in color. They told us,it goes in red and comes out red, and they were right. They said sometimes patients may even cry red tears. I wanted to thank everyone at Lazart Production and Thirstystone Resources, Inc. for the wonderful luncheon they did for Krista on Friday. Thank you to everyone that came and donated. I can not stress how grateful we are for everything that you all have done for us. Thank you to everyone that has signed Krista and also left us emails. Thank you everyone that's out there looking for Webkinz for Krista. You all just truly amaze me. You are our HEROES!!! We are still FROG'n Wednesday, April 18, 2007-Well Krista finished her first round of chemo and she still has two more to go before she gets to leave the hospital. She is doing really good. We are in the play room right now having fun. Thanks Kidd Kraddick for having Krista on the radio this morning. It really put a smile on her face. We should be out of here no later than 11 or 12 Thursday night. Well the play room is closing so I update again later. Saturday, April 14, 2007-Krista will be in Dallas Tuesday through late Thursday night. Tuesday she will do a PET scan @ 7:30 a.m. and @ 2:00 p.m. she will have her Echocardiogram. After all that is done we will have a late admit. Chemo will be given over three days. Thank you Lazart/Thirstystone. They have planned a Benefit Luncheon for Krista on the 20th. Wednesday, April 11, 2007-We just got back from Dallas again. Krista saw her Oncologist, Dr. Bowers today. We discussed treatment. He did tell us that he called all over the country talking to other doctors asking their opinion on treatment. He gave us three options of chemo: (1) Doxorubicin and Ifosfamide...this is a very hard IV chemo, the Doxorubicin can cause heart and kidney problems, the Ifosfamide will cause her counts to drop. These two drugs have been used to fight Sarcomas. (2) Cyclphosphamide and Topotecan...This would be an oral treatment that she could do at home for 14 days. On the 1st and 14th day of treatment we would have to spend all day at Childerns doing test. These drugs will cause Krista's counts to drop. This would also be consider an Experimental treatment. (Will insurance pay for these drugs?) (3) Phase I Study with a new IV drug called Lenolidamide....there is no data on this drug yet and this would be an experimental treatment also. So know we have to decide which one to do by Friday at the latest. They are wanting to start treatment on Tuesday. Dr.Bowers did tell us that we would not be burning any bridges no matter what we decided on. If we are not happy with one option we will always have two more to think about. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone for the donations that have been made to Krista's Benefit account. Someone once asked me, "Why do you need donations don't you have insurance?" and I answered, "Insurance only pays so much, when you have had to deal with this for over 9 years those bills seem to never go away they...just multiple." Again thank you all so very much for your continued support over the past 9 yrs. Now it's time to FIGHT again! Sunday, April 08, 2007-Happy Easter! This morning Krista and Shelby woke up early to find our front yard COVERED with eggs. The Easter Bunny must have been really busy last night hiding all those eggs. Thank you! We went to Church this morning and now we are getting ready to go to Granny's to find more eggs. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter. Friday, April 06, 2007-We went back to Dallas yesterday for a CT scan of Krista's belly. After the scan we talked with Dr. Bowers. He told us that there were at least three spots showing on her skull, one on her pelvis, one on her knee and now one on her lung. Krista is now dealing with a Sarcoma (Malignant Fibro Histiocytoma...bone cancer) They still do not have a final pathology yet. Sarcomas can usually be surgically removed, but not with Krista. There is basically not a cure. We can not sit back and do noting...so, they are trying to get her into an experimental chemo program. This chemo will not be as harsh on Krista as some of the others would be. Since, Krista has had such extreme chemo and radiation already, her bone marrow will not hold up with a harsh chemo. We are praying that this experimental program opens up really soon. We asked Krista yesterday, if everyday could be a holiday what would you want it to be? Krista said, "my birthday!" So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGEL (5/15/97 is Krista's real Birthday), We love you!. Krista has been our little miracle two times already. Now we are shooting for third. We will not give up the fight! Heaven is just going to have to wait for their Hero. Please help us pray that Krista's little body will respond to treatment. Thank you all once again for your love and support. Wednesday, April 04, 2007-Well yesterday we got calls from Dr. Price and Dr. Bowers. Things are not looking to good right now. Krista is now fighting her 3rd kind of CANCER. They still do not have the final pathology back yet, but it should hopefully be back by time we go back on Thursday to get more scans done. They are wanting to scan her abdomen now. Dr. Bowers did tell me that we are more than likely dealing with a different type of cancer. We are in need of lots of prayers. Please pray that Krista will have the strength to fight this terrible disease yet again. Saturday, March 31, 2007-The fashion show was wonderful. Krista looked beautiful of course. I want to wish Shelby GOOD LUCK today. She is in San Antonio for State Competition in Math/Science. Good Luck Shell-butt! We love you! Thursday, March 29, 2007-Tomorrow we leave for Dallas again but, this time for fun! Krista will be walking the RUNWAY like a Super Model with a Celebrity at her side. Look out Tyra....here comes the America's next Top Model! Thursday, March 29, 2007-Krista's surgery started about 4:15 on Tuesday, at 4:30 they called and said they were done. Dr. Price came in shortly after that and she told us that Krista did wonderful. She didn't have to go into the brain at all. She said that the leather like covering was still intact. She scrapped some of the "Stuff" out and sent it off to pathology. She did ask them to get it back to her as soon as they could. After that, they keep coming in to see us asking what can we do to help Krista wake up? I took Krista about 3 hours to wake up. This had everyone a little concerned. They did a CT scan and also a blood to make sure she was getting enough oxygen. Once she decided to wake up Justin and I were right by her side in the recovery room. As we stood by her side we over heard the nurse talking to someone else on the phone about Krista. She was going over the report from the surgery when she said "They now believing to be dealing with Epidural Spindle Cell Carcinoma". Justin and I both looked up at each other and her grabbed a pen and started writing it down. Once the nurse got off the phone Justin asked, "Now what did you call it again?" and she repeated it to him. Then she asked, "What did they tell y'all?" Our answer to this was NOTHING...all they said was that they removed some "STUFF" but we've come to know Dr. Price and you could tell that something was bothering her. So here we go off into the world of the unknown once again. We finally got into a room about 8:30 Tuesday night. They were in there every hour doing neurological exams on Krista to make sure that she was waking up ok. So we did not get any rest that night at all! So now we wait until April 11th to get the results unless they notify us before that. Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers. We have a long road ahead of us. Also, thank you to everyone that help bring Stella home to Krista yesterday. She is just the therapy that Krista needs right now. Tuesday, March 27, 2007-Yesterday, pre-op went much better. We have to be at the hospital at 1:30 this afternoon, surgery will be at 2:30. Please keep those prayers coming! Stephanie, thank you so much for the gas card, it is greatly appreciated! Thank you, to everyone that helped with Krista's early birthday present. She will be so excited when she gets home from the hospital! Thank you, to Julie S. and Margaret B. from the American Cancer Society, the room was wonderful! Krista just wanted to let everyone at W.E. Chalmers know that she misses them and she'll be back real soon. I will have the laptop with me at the hospital so please keep those messages and PRAYERS coming. Krista really loves to read them all. Mike, Jodie and Family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. We love you guys! Thank you all again for your continued support! Love, The Brewer Bunch Wednesday, March 21, 2007-Krista goes back to Dallas for Pre-Op on March 26th and then surgery March 27th at 2:00. Then the waiting game begins. We will have to wait about 2-3 weeks for the results of the biopsy. On a happier note...Krista is very excited, she gets to spend the day with her friend Madison. When I told her last night that she was going she gave me biggest hug and went to her room and wrote Madison's house on her calendar. How great is that? Tuesday, March 13, 2007-We got to the hospital about 10:30 this morning. Krista had her CT scan, then we went for the pre-op work up. During the work up we told them that Krista had a rash of some kind on her chest, after 4 different people looked at it they decided to postpone the surgery until the 27th of March. Krista now has Infentigo (a bacterial skin infection)! They do not want to take the chance of the infection possibly going to her head while they are doing surgery. So now we wait again. Dr. Price did tell us that once the biopsy is done it will take a couple of weeks to get the results back. So we get to wait AGAIN! This is going to be one of the longest months of my life. I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone at W.E. Chalmers for keeping Krista's spirit up. Thank you for all the goodies she came home with on Monday. Thank you Sherry Hargis and Family your kindness is greatly appreciated. Thursday, March 08, 2007-Krista will be going to Dallas for a MRI and Pre-Op stuff on March 13th. We will be staying the night down there, since we have to be back at the hospital at 6:30 that next morning. Last night Krista made homemade cookies for her class. They were heart and flowers shapes. Krista really likes to cook. She got the whole cooking thing from her Daddy! The evening she went for a motorcycle ride with her PaPa..."Krista is one Hot Harley Momma" she loves to go FAST! As she sits doing her homework I wonder what she is thinking about? What are her feelings about this surgery? Does she fully understand what we have told her about it? These questions and so many more run through my head all day long. God.... please guide the doctors as they perform the biopsy, please continue giving Krista the strength to fight like no other. Friday, March 02, 2007-The biopsy of Krista's skull is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.,March 14th, at Children's Medical Center of Dallas. Krista will have to go down there a day or two before the surgery to do all of the Pre-Op stuff. After the surgery Krista will be in the hospital for a few days. Once she is in a room I will post her room number and phone number. Thank you all once again for your continued support and prayers. "F.R.O.G." Thursday, March 01, 2007-Krista stayed home from school today with her Daddy. I took Krista to the doctor yesterday.......she now has the CRUD! Monday, February 26, 2007-Well now we wait....I left a message for Dr. Bowers to call me ASAP, because Justin and I have decided for them to do the biopsy of the skull. I really hope that they can get it scheduled for this week. As soon as I know when it will be I will let you all know. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, as we continue to "F.R.O.G." Friday, February 23, 2007-Today about 4:20 I got the call I was not wanting. Dr.Bowers said that Krista not only has the spot on her skull, but the Bone Scan showed 2 more Hot Spots...1 on her Hip and 1 below her Right Knee. He told me we had 2 options (1) biopsy the skull...this would have Krista in the hospital for a few days...leave her with a new scar on her head and also leave her with a soft spot, (2) wait 1 month and redo the scans. He asked what I thought and of course my first thought was to do the biopsy. I told him I needed the weekend to talk it over with Justin. Dr. Bowers and Dr. Price are unsure why Krista is not having any pain if this happens to be Bone Cancer. I asked him if this would be a pain that Krista could hind from us, because theres been several times that she has had a headache and not told us because she thinks she will have to go to the hospital. Dr. Bowers said that this should be a pain that she could not hide. He asked me again if she ever complains of anything hurting, I told him that about 1 month ago she told us that her Hip hurt but I didn't think anything about it. So here we go once again into the land of the unknown. Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers as we try to find the answer to the puzzle. Thank you all again for your continued support and prayers. Thursday, February 22, 2007-Well...our visit today did not go as well as we wanted. Dr. Bowers came in and told us that the tumor sites were ok, but there is a spot on her skull that has grown about 2-3cm in 3 months. They are not real sure what it is right now. Of Course, everyones first thought is Bone Cancer. Dr. Bowers said that they are not ruling anything out right now. Krista has never been a NORMAL patient for Children's Hospital. They sent us down for a CT Scan and a Bone Scan. After getting the Bone Scan done the tech took the pictures into the doctor and he told her to scan Krista's pelvis again. After scanning her pelvis again she told us that they had ordered an X-ray of her pelvis, so off we went again. This has me a little concerned, first we're scanning her head and now her pelvis. How much more can she handle? She has already been through more than anyone human should ever have to go through. Watching her listening to us talk about what's going on was so hard, she had this disappointed look on her beautiful little face...it broke my heart. Now we wait. Hopefully we will know something tomorrow. I promise to update as soon as I know something. This little girl deserves a BREAK and time to be a NORMAL little girl. Please God help guide us through this. I keep asking "WHY"? I know you have Krista on this earth for a reason, just please don't make her suffer. Feb. 01, 2007-Krista is still doing GREAT! Her hair is coming in really thick. it's still not very long, but it's getting there. It's kinda in that awkward stage, but it looks beautiful. She goes tomorrow to see her Oncologist Dr. Bowers for a clinic visit. We will get her MRI results then. Please pray that everything is GOOD. Krista had her fitting for the Children's Cancer Fund Fashion Show. She picked out a really cute outfit...well her Daddy helped a bunch! Everyone has been asking, "What did Krista pick out to wear for the Fashion Show?" We are keeping it a secret this time!!! It's time for Krista to be getting ready for Relay For Life again. If anyone has any great ideas for a we would love to hear them. Well...as soon as we get back tomorrow I will update to let everyone know the results of the MRI. Friday, February 02, 2007-Let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!!! Wow we have had snow 2 days in a row. I can't remember the last time it did that. Krista loves the snow. Sorry it's been so long! Krista has not had her appointment with the Endocrinologists yet.The day she was scheduled to go Dallas it was all icy and the clinic was closed, so now she is rescheduled for April 27th. Krista will be doing the Children's Cancer Fund fashion show again this year. We will be going to Northpark Mall next weekend to get her fitted for the fashion show. This year she will get to walk the runway with a celebrity!!! Michael....I promise to get you some pictures. I will have Shelby work on that this weekend. Kenedy...Thank you so much for writing about Krista. Mrs. Beck shared your story with me. It means so very much to know that Krista has such a great friend that cares and understands about her the way that you do. Krista has an MRI on Feb. 9th. Please pray that good news will be heard! I hope that everyone had a great Holiday and Happy New Year. Thank you all again for your continued support and prayers. Thursday, December 21, 2006- I know...I know it's be forever since my last update. Everything is going great, just waiting for Krista's appointment with the Endocrinologist on Jan. 15th. About 2 weeks ago Bubbie (the fat cat) came up missing. Shelby and Krista were heart broken. As of yesterday they received the best Christmas present ever....our neighbor Suzette found Bubbie at a locate shelter. Suzette called his named and he came running. She had told the man in charge that she knew the owners of that cat. He told her that he had already been adopted but if she could get the owners to come and get him that he could come home, so off Justin went. When the girls got home from school they could not love on him enough. THANK YOU Suzette for giving my girls the best Christmas present ever!!! Thank you all for your continued support. The Brewer Bunch wishes you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Friday, November 10, 2006-We finally got the results from Krista's lab work. They are very concerned about one of the test....Insulin Growth Factor #1 ...normal testing is 120...Krista was a 12. There is another Growth Factor but I can't for the life of me remember it, but it was border line. So now they are referring her to an Endocrinologist. I have been told that they will do tons of lab work and it will be an all day appointment. Please lift Krista up in prayer as she endures more lab work and many more hospital visits over the next month or so. Thursday, November 02, 2006-Krista's MRI scan came back STABLE...She will still be going to Dallas every 3 months for routine MRI's. While we were talking to her doctors they were concerned that she had only grew 3 cm in 2 years, so they sent Krista to the lab to do some blood work to test her Thyroid and Pituitary Glands.Once we know the results from the lab work then they will set us up with an Endocrinologist. If her thyroid and or pituitary glands are not working the way they should this could possibly explain why she is so tired of all the time.We hope to know the results from the lab work no later than Monday. With all of the cheo and radiation that she has endured over the last 9 years we are still seeing more andamp; more side affects. I promise to keep up all updated. Please keep Krista in your prayers that all goes well. Wednesday, October 25, 2006-We now have a new kitten named Lucy ,because Krista did the PUPPY LIP and Daddy said "YES". Krista had a routine MRI on Monday we will find out the results on Nov. Please pray for everything to still be stable. I will update again as soon as we get the MRI results. Wednesday, October 04, 2006-Krista got to see her friend Kolby last night. Kolby came home from college on Tuesday and played softball with Krista's Daddy (Justin). Kolby Thank you for taking the time for Krista. You bring a huge smile to her face when she gets to see you. Krista kinda had a rough day today. She fell about 4 times today at school and she has a pretty good carpet burn on her right knee. So we are keeping an eye on her tonight. I have asked Krista how she feels and she told me that she was just really tired. So early to bed tonight. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 - Krista had FOUR teeth pulled today!!! She did really good, but the poor Tooth Fairy will be BROKE after night! Krista still has THREE more that need to be pulled. Her baby teeth just aren't falling out. Shannon from KISS FM called us this evening and asked if Krista would talk to them on the radio this Thursday morning @ 6:45 a.m. So if you get a chance please listen. Thursday is Kidds Kids Day. They are getting ready to send more families to Walt Disney World. Our trip with them last year was a dream come true. Please check out the show Thursday morning, and you could help make another childs dream come true by making a donation to Kidds Kids. Believe me it is well worth it...I will be making my donation that morning as well!!! Kidds Kids you ROCK!!! Sunday, September 24, 2006 - We made it back from Washington D.C. late Thursday night. The trip was fast and furious, but we had a great time. Our visit with our Congressman was o.k. it could have gone better. We made lots of new friends and also got the visit with some old friends. It was amazing to look out over the Reflection Pool and see nothing but PURPLE!!! We heard several different bands play for us. Krista danced all night on Wednesday. After this one guy (Ty Nelson) got through singing Krista went on stage where he was and gave him a madri gras necklace. That just made her day because he gave her a hug. I have several hundred pictures and we will get them on here as soon as possible. Thursday, September 14, 2006 - Well...there is not a lot the say...Krista is still going GREAT! She will be cheering tomorrow at the Gainesville High School football game with all her friends from the cheer camp. I believe she will cheer about 7:30. We leave on Tuesday the 19th for Washington D.C. I will be calling home everyday so Justin can keep everyone up to date on what progress we are making with Congress. I do have a prayer request for Victoria Enmon. Victoria is a Hero of Hope along with Krista. Victoria will be having a test done to today to see if she is in remission or not. Victoria is also waiting to have bone marrow transplant. Please keep Victoria and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Saturday, August 26, 2006 - Krista just came back from getting her 1st hair cut since Feb.2005. We had to get her ears lowered. Krista has a POOL PARTY to go to tonight, she is counting down every hour! Well Krista is back from her pool party...she had a GREAT time!!! Thank you Jordan and Morgan for inviting Krista. Hope you both have wonderful birthdays. Sunday, August 20, 2006 - Krista's MRI came back STABLE!!! She will not go back for 3 months. If her scan stays stable Dr. Bowers said we would talk about getting her port taken out. We asked when would Krista go to 6 month check ups and he did not know. He said with any other child he would have already done that, but not with our Krista. Her case is so unusual he doesn't want to rock the boat right now. So we are very happy with check ups every 3 months. Thursday, August 10, 2006- Krista is still doing GREAT! ONE WEEK UNTIL SCHOOL STARTS!!!! Krista gets to meet her teacher on the 15th. She had an MRI on Monday, but of course they did not tell us anything we have to wait a week to find anything out, I guess no news is GOOD NEWS right :-) I will update you all when I know something about her MRI results. Krista has some really great new pictures please take a look Tuesday, July 25, 2006-Krista and I went to a training on Saturday for Celebration on the Hill. Krista was able to visit with some of her fellow Heroes of Hope. We leave for D.C. in two months! Krista has been keeping us very busy so far this summer. Today she is going to the dentist to get her teeth cleaned....and she is not very excited about that. Shelby found out yesterday that she was elected to be head cheerleader for the Jr. High. We are very proud of you Shelby! I would like to thank Michael....Michael you have done an awesome job with this site, I can't stress how much we appreciate everything that you have done for us. I would also like to say thank you to everyone who checks on Ms. Krista all the time. She loves reading all of the comments from you guys. We hope that everyone is having a great summer. Thursday, July 13, 2006-What a crazy summer it has been. Krista is doing GREAT! We have seen several movies this summer. Krista has been swimming, painting and eating a lot. I do believe that before she goes back to school she will need bigger clothes...which is a good thing she has been the same size for so long. The count down is on for when she gets to change her ear rings out. She already has a pair set aside on her dresser to put in. Tuesday, June 20, 2006-Sorry for not updating in such a long time! Krista has been doing GREAT!!! School is out and we are staying very busy. Krista went to a Mini Cheer Camp and had a blast. She is now dancing and cheering with Shelby all over the house. We have not made it to all the movies that she wants to see yet, but we did see CARS...if you have not seen this please go...it's the funniest movie we've seen in a long time. Krista got her ears pierced last Saturday. She is so very proud. We were walking around in the mall and her Nana said, "Krista if you get your ears pierced today I will get you that ball that you wanted out of the machine." Krista stopped dead in her tracks and said,"O.K." so off we were to get her ears pierced. Little did she know the ball she wanted was only a quarter she would have got it anyway, but she looks beautiful with her pink bling bling in her ears. This next week Krista will be going to Vacation Bible School, then we will be taking a short vacation to Beaver's Bend. Krista's nana and papa have rented a cabin for all of us. Thank you all for your support as we continue this journey. Please sign Krista's Guest book she loves to read them all. Wednesday, May 31, 2006-TWO days of school left!!! Krista has a very long list of movies that she is wanting to see this summer. Krista can not be in heat a lot this summer, but we can still have fun. The Bike Run was good. We had about 90 bikes show up, and about 150 people ended up at the Lindsay Park for lunch. We raised right at $2,000.00 for the American Cancer Society. Thank you to everyone that helped make this possible. Sunday, May 28, 2006-Today we had Krista's birthday party. She invited her 3rd grade class. Everyone was entertained by a Balloon Artist and Magician. Everyone...even the BIG kids, got a balloon hat. What a sight that was! Krista had a great day. Thank you to everyone. Tomorrow we will be hosting the 3rd annual Ride for a Cure in honor of Krista. All proceeds raised from this ride benefit the American Cancer Society. We are hoping to have about 300 motorcycles at this years event. I will update again tomorrow on the Ride for a Cure. Saturday, May 20, 2006-Only 9 school days left!!! Krista thinks she has our whole summer planned. By her plan we will be watching movies all summer. Krista does not handle the hear very well, so anything inside is better for her. Krista had her clinic visit Thursday and everything checked out good. We did have one concern about her right ankle....she has a ring aroung her ankle that she can not feel. They said just the watch it for right now and make sure that it does not spread. That's about it for now. Monday, May 15, 2006-HAPPY 9th BIRTHDAY KRISTA!!! Wishing you a GREAT day. We are so very proud of you, and love you with all our hearts. Sunday, May 14, 2006- HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!! Friday, May 12, 2006-We have good news...Krista had a MRI today and the docs called about 1 our after Krista had finished and said that the scan was STABLE!!! I'll take stable, but I would still like to hear that it is all gone. Well, Krista's B-DAY is Monday so please sign her and wish her a HAPPY 9th B-DAY!!! Thank you, to Cathy, Frank, Chris and the MRI Gang at Children's Medical Center of Dallas for the gifts that you gave to Krista. She loves it all!!! Monday, May 08, 2006-Krista got her spring school pictures today. She looks of beautiful!!! We have lots of new pictures so we will try and them on here as soon as possible. Thursday, May 04, 2006-Krista has Field Day today. She did the Football kick, Softball Throw, Frog Jump and Sack race. Krista did a wonderful job. She got three 3rd place ribbons and one 1st place ribbon. I am so very proud of you!!! Cooke County Relay For Life is tomorrow. Please pray that the rain will stay away! I encourage everyone that can come to please do so. This is an amazing event. Words can not express how emotional Relay can be for everyone, no matter their age. The SURVIVORS lap will start at 6:00 p.m. hope to see you there!!! Sunday, April 23, 2006-The Children's Cancer Fund Fashion Show was wonderful!!! Krista looked beautiful of course. My camera did not do so good, but they took some pictures backstage for us. I hope that those pictures turn out o.k. I spoke with Mary, Elisha's mom yesterday. She sounded really good. It was great to hear her voice. Mary is still in need of lots of prayers. We love you Mary! On Saturday, April 29th from 4:00-6:00p.m., The Brewer Bunch and The Misfits will be "Cookin' Up A Cure". A Spaghetti Dinner at Hillcrest Church of Christ will be held and all the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. It's getting closer and closer to our 11th annual Relay For Life here in Cooke County. It will be held at the Gainesville High School Football Stadium May 5-6. I encourage anyone that can attend the Relay this year to do so. We have right at 50 teams this year and hope to raise over $100,000 again this year. Come and enjoy as we all CELEBRATE LIFE and the HOPE in finding a CURE for CANCER. Monday, April 17, 2006-I know it's been a long time since my last update, but I was having computer problems. We hope everyone had a great Easter. We sure did! Krista found over 60 eggs at her Granny's house. This time last year she was finding eggs in her hospital room. It was such a blessing to see her trying to run and keep up with all of her cousins in the mad dash to find the prize egg. Saturday morning we had a Bake Sale for the Relay For Life at Grand Central and we made about $900 in 3 hours. Thank you Brad H. for allowing us to use your parking lot. This Friday is the Fashion Show. Krista picked out a fancy pink dress, silver high heels and a cowboy hat to top it all off. She will look great. Her hair is still coming in dark, it's still to short to tell if it will be straight or curly. We will get lots of new pictures on the site as soon as we get back from the fashion show. Thank you for your continued support as we continue on this journey. Krista's next MRI is schedule for May 12th. Wednesday, March 15, 2006-Today was a very long day. We were in Dallas by 7:30 this morning for Krista to have her Physc-Educational Evaluation. The testing took right at 6 hours!!! She tolerated the testing better than I thought she would. I know she had some problems with a lot of it, but some parts she flew right through. We will have the results in a couple of weeks as to how she did. I am so very proud of Krista. She did a really GREAT job today. Thursday, March 09, 2006-Krista's eating has slowed down. It was good while it lasted. Don't get me wrong she is still eating just not like she was. A lot has been going on with Krista. She took the TASKS test and did not do so good. We finally have everything in place with her schooling. She is now receiving extra help with Reading and Math. We go next Thursday for a Neurophyschology Evaluation. This is the study of the relationship of brain functions as it relates to a person's mental abilities to see what kind of learning disabilities Krista may be having. This will help tremendously with getting Krista the extra help that she is needing. I have been told that this testing could take any where from 3-6 hours. The girls will be out for SPRING BREAK next week.....YEAH!!! I get to sleep in. Getting them to wake up in the mornings for school is terrible, they are just like their Daddy. I do have some exciting news I will be going to work for W.E. Chalmers Elementary on the 20th. I can't hardly wait! We are trying to get a new link on this site for Krista's Relay For Life team "The Misfits". This link will allow people to donate money for the American Cancer Society by credit card, it will also give the address to send any other donations to if you do not like to do things over the internet. I would like to say THANK YOU to Ashley for your wonderful donation to "The Misfits". Tuesday, February 28, 2006-Krista is feeling really good. She is also eating!!! She now weighs right at 45 lbs. We have waited a long time to see her weight go up. I think we are finally on the right track with all her schooling. Thank you to everyone that has helped us with this. We ask that everybody say a quick prayer for Krista's Uncle Dusty and Aunt Ashley....We love you both. Krista was interviewed today by Natalie Mercer. Natalie is a student at Texas Tech. Krista had a lot of fun doing this interview. As you all know Krista loves to talk!!! Thank you Natalie for thinking of Krista. Thursday, February 23, 2006-All is good. We got the results of Krista's MRI today. Her scans were STABLE!!! Krista impressed all her doctors today. Thank you to everyone that had Krista in their prayers today. Krista will have another MRI in 3 months. We go back on March 15 for a Physc Educational Consult. On Tuesday we were at Children's for the photo shoot. Krista brought a football for Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach to autograph. She also got to meet the TOOTH FAIRY. Her name is Sparkle. Saturday, February 18, 2006- It's really cold here today. Two days ago it was 84 degrees outside. But that's Texas weather for ya. Shelby had cheer try outs yesterday..and of course she made it!!! Congrats Shelby we love you!!! Right after try outs she left to go to D-NOW 2006 (Disciple Now) at Falls Creek in Oklahoma. Shelby called this morning to let us know that it snowed a little there today. I think she was just rubbing it in, since we hardly ever get to see snow. Krista received a really cool t-shirt. On the front is says: Children (God's lil miracles), then on the back it says: To do list: 1.Beat cancer 2.Grow hair 3.Live my dreams. And Krista is doing all 3!!! Thank you Granny Shelia from Louisiana for wonderful t-shirt. Please check out www.rikijorocks.com this is a website in Memory of Shelia's daughter Riki Jo. Thank you to the Peerson family from Nocona. Krista loved the kitty, her name is Delilah. We call her "D" for short. "D" sleeps with Krista every night and she has even gone to school with her. We have made so very amazing friends through this fight over the last year. I can not thank you all enough. This next week we will be traveling to Dallas on the 21st for a photo shoot for the Children's Cancer Fund and Krista gets to meet Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach. Then on the 23rd Krista goes in for her 1st clinic visit since she finished chemo. We will get the results from her MRI on the 23rd also. So as soon as I get home I will update with results. Monday, February 13, 2006-Today was a good day. My sweet little Krista came running to me this morning to give me a huge Birthday hug and kiss. Today has been a very blessed day. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and kindness through out the day. You made my day! Krista made out her Valentines last night for her class and decorated her Valentine box. They will have a contest for the best box tomorrow. Krista's box is PINK of course. Krista did the Jump Rope For Heart last week. She raised $36.00 all by herself. She was jumping in Memory of her Great Uncle John Boulware. Shelby starts her cheer practice Tuesday and the try-outs will be Friday. Best of luck Shelby! We love you. Thursday, February 09, 2006-The last few days have been very full.On Wednesday we went to the "Celebration of Life" service for sweet little Elisha. It was a beautiful service. Krista is still doing really good. Her energy level is way up. Krista eating a lot more now. She still has a little bit of weight to gain back, but she'll get there. Her hair just keeps growing. It's still just little stubbles but it's beautiful! Krista is so proud it. Shelby will be having 8th grade Jr. High cheer try outs this next week. That's always exciting! I can't thank you all enough for your continued support. I love reading all the encouraging notes from you all. There have been many times when I didn't think I could handle it anymore. I found myself asking WHY? But now I know that it's no fair to ask that question. God was only giving us what he knew we could handle. He has given us the perfect ANGEL...not to keep but to borrow. And I thank him everyday for that. Saturday, February 04, 2006-Today about 11:30 a.m. I received a call from Aaron (Mary's cousin), shortly after that wrapped in his loving mother's arms sweet little Elisha got his wings. Elisha touched so many people. His bright little smile would light up any room. I fell in love with him the very first time I met him, he was playing in the playroom on the 10th floor with a Peter Pan outfit on saying he was "Fancy Pants". We will carry so many memories with us. Mary your are a very blessed person, God gave you the perfect ANGEL. Thank Jessica, Holly and Aaron. Mary and Elisha have been so very blessed to have you all in their lives. I will update when I know more about when the services will be held. Sweet dreams little E. We love you! Friday, February 03, 2006-Krista is still doing really good. Tonight we are going to a benefit dance for Krista. Dean Patterson and his Jazz/Swing Band will be hosting this benefit. I checked in on Elisha today please read the following: Today has brought scary news. Elisha's doctors met with Mary this morning around 11:00am and informed her that Elisha's liver is shutting down and that there is nothing more that they feel they can do. www.elishahenderson.com Tuesday, January 31, 2006-Krista and I get to go to Washington D.C. in September. We are going to participate in Celebration on the Hill for the American Cancer Society. Our voices WILL be heard in the halls of Congress and the impact of this event will help us convince lawmakers to make cancer a national priority!!! Monday, January 30, 2006-Krista is doing very good. We went shopping this weekend for a new outfit. Krista will be having a photo shoot done Feb.21st for the Children's Cancer Fund Calendar. Her hair is coming back so dark, it's short but it's just long enough to stick up! Please continue to pray for Elisha Henderson and Mary. We are off to have dinner with Uncle Farin and Aunt Mary. Krista is really excited about that. Hope you all had a great weekend. Sunday, January 22, 2006-IT'S RAINING!!! We woke up this morning to the wonderful sound of rain. This is the first rain we have seen in almost 100 days. Thank you God for making this wonderful lazy day. Krista is doing really good. She is still wanting to eat. Krista is laughing and playing again. Well right now she is mad at me because she is having to do some school work that she missed while she was in the hospital. I do believe that Krista is going to have darker hair this time around. Right now she looks like she has a five o'clock shadow on her little head. It is so fuzzy and soft. Once it comes in really good she still wants to spike it up and color it half pink and half red. This will be a sight to see. But I think she deserves it. There will be a dance held in Krista's honor on Feb 3rd at our V.F.W. One of my teachers from high school is hosting the event Mr. Dean Patterson. He has a big band that plays lots of older tunes. They are really awesome to listen to. They will definitely get your toes tapping. We hope that Krista is feeling well enough to attend the dance. I hope that maybe she would even sing for everyone. I will keep you posted on this event and maybe try to get a flyer put on this site for you all. Keep FROG-IN!!! Friday, January 20, 2006-We got home yesterday late afternoon. Krista is feeling much better. She will try and go back to school on Monday. As long as she does do spike a fever we should hopefully have a relaxing weekend. Thank you all for keeping Krista in your prayers. Please also remember to pray for Elisha and his mom Mary. Elisha was sent back to the ICU this week. They believe that he may have an infection in his blood now. Wednesday, January 18, 2006 II-Surgery went very good. She was in surgery for about a hour. She has asked for something to eat and drink. That alone is good news to hear. We hope to go home tomorrow but it might be Friday. I will updated again tomorrow...it's time to get some sleep. Wednesday, January 18, 2006-Well here we are at Children's after 10 hours in ER we finally got into a room this morning about 3:30 a.m. Krista is having really bad head aches, vomiting and sleeping all the time. Right now she is on Morphine. After the ER doctors told us that everything showed to be ok on her CT Scan and also on the shunt series, one of them pumped her shunt and it did not return. So then they were believing what we were telling them. They just tapped her shunt and it is not working at all!!! So now Krista will be having surgery sometime day if not it will be tomorrow morning. Please keep Krista in your thoughts and prayers as she endures yet another surgery. She is the strongest and bravest little young that I will ever know. Thank you God for giving her the continued strength to continue the fight against the battle. Tuesday, January 17, 2006-Hello to all! Sorry it's been so long since my last update. Our computer at home crashed and we just got it back. Well, it's been pretty crazy around here lately with the holidays and Shelby turning 13. Shelby turning 13....that should be enough said. Krista has been doing pretty good. She has this cold that just want go away. This last week end she was feeling really good. She was outside riding her bike! This is the first time she has been on it since she got it in May! Krista is having a little bit of a hard time with school. She has missed so much that it is going to be hard for her to catch up. Over this last week end we are starting to notice a little dark hair coming in on Krista's beautiful bald little head. She is so excited! She is asking everyone to feel her fuzz. Krista now has eyelashes and her eyebrows are also coming back. Krista will an MRI on Feb. 1st. Her clinic appointment will Feb. 23, this is when we will get the MRI results. . It's been almost three months since her last MRI. It seems like a lifetime. This is the true test as to how well the chemo and radiation have worked. Thank you to everyone for your continued support through this battle. Please keep praying for Krista as she still has a long road ahead of her still. Oh! I almost forgot the most important thing. Krista is EATING!!! Some days are better than others but she is EATING!!! Now hopefully she can get her weight back up where it needs to be. Thursday, January 05, 2006-Krista has had a horrible virus. This will be her 2nd day at home. Right now she is so weak and is as white as a ghost. Hope everyone had a great New Year. Shelby turns 13 tomorrow!!! Sorry I have not done an update in so long, but our computer at home has CRASHED. I will update tomorrow on how Krista is feeling. Tuesday, December 27, 2005-Hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas. Krista is still feeling really good. She will go for blood work tomorrow. I have yet another prayer request. There is a HUGE wild fire in Callisburg and Dexter. This is where a lot of our family and friends live. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as this fire continues to destroy more and more homes. Several that we know have already lost everything. This fire is so big they are not real sure which way it will go next. Justin's Mom and his Cousins family have already been told to evacuate the area. Please pray for them all. Justin is on his way back out there right now. I feel so helpless knowing that there is nothing I can do but PRAY! Also please continue to pray for little Elisha and his Mom Mary. Friday, December 23, 2005-As Christmas day approaches I thank GOD for every moment that he has allowed us to have Krista. We have been truly blessed this year. As Justin says everyday is a holiday. Last week Krista had an ear infection, but now she is feeling really good. She has already done the puppy lip. She and Shelby have done this the past couple of years when they want to open a Christmas present early so tonight they will get to open ONE present each. Krista is hoping that she gets a pool table. Shelby just wants money! We will be going to Granny's house tomorrow evening. Krista and Shelby's Grandpa Webb will be coming to visit also. Then Christmas afternoon will be at Nana and Papa's house. The day after Christmas will be spent with Grandpa and Grandma Brewer. As we make our trips to celebrate this great day with our loved ones my thoughts, prayers and my heart will be with Elisha and Mary. God please give the doctors the knowledge that they need to help heal Elisha. God please keep Mary's strong FAITH alive. God please give them both the comfort that they need. Mary and Elisha we love you both! Merry Christmas! Monday, December 19, 2005-This weekend was good. Expect for on Sunday Krista woke up complaining of an ear ache. She cried all day yesterday because she hurt so bad. I hate to see my little ANGEL in so much pain. So, she will be going to the doctor this afternoon. We (Santa's little helpers) went to see our little friend Elisha and his Mommy Mary yesterday. Elisha and Mary were blessed with lots of gifts and love. Elisha smiled so big while he was opening all his gifts. That's what is all about! Elisha is still in need of lots prayers. He is not eating and the doctors are saying that his lungs look like an eighty year old man that has smoked all his life. Please pray for the healing of Elisha's lungs and also keep Mary in your thoughts and prayers also. Mary and Elisha, we love you both! Merry Christmas! Thank you Callisburg Methodist Church....your generosity is greatly appreciated! The Christmas program last night was great! Wednesday, December 14, 2005II-Krista's counts: White 3.4, Platelets 442 and Hemoglobin is 8.6. Not so bad but they could be better. He is still very sick and in need of lots prayers. We will be visiting him this weekend and taking Mary and E a little Christmas spirit. Krista woke up this morning feeling good once again. She will be having her school Christmas party tomorrow afternoon, she is very excited about that. But she is more excited about being out of school for two weeks. Thank you to everyone once again for all that you all of have done us over this past year. You have helped make this extreme roller coaster ride a lot smoother. Monday, December 12, 2005II-I just received an update on Brittaney Moore. She has been taken off the ventilator and the neck brace has been removed. She has responded well to motor commands but the brain activity is still too early to tell. She is off the sedation (only pain meds now). They are waiting on the neurological rehab doctor to come by this afternoon. Please continue to lift this family up in prayer. Monday, December 12, 2005-Krista had a great weekend. This weekend was the first time in a very long time that I have seen my Krista's smile. She smiled, laughed and played around with everyone all weekend. Slowly be surely we will get our Krista back. Please continue to pray for Elisha Henderson and family. Wednesday, December 07, 2005-Krista's wish is coming true.....it is SNOWING!!! Krista is feeling really good. She is also eating a little. Jennifer Sicking came over last and did a story on Krista about her trip to Disney World. It should run in Sundays paper, so keep an eye out for it. Tuesday, December 06, 2005-Krista went to Sherman today to get her blood counts and her Vinicristine. Her counts came back low.....White count is 1.6, Hemoglobin is 9.4 and her Platelets are 71. She seems to be in a good mood. Jennifer Sicking with the Gainesville Daily Register is coming over tonight to do a story about our Disney World Trip. Monday, December 05, 2005-Krista's weekend was good. Saturday we woke up very early. Krista had so much fun being in the parade. Then we went to Six Flags for Holiday in the Park...this was a bummer....they had no power in over half of the park!!! Needless to say we did not stay very long. But the main thing is Krista was feeling GREAT!!! We found out this morning that our friend Rich will be leaving the Kidd Kraddick in the morning show. Rich will be greatly missed. Rich and Mary, thank you for making our trip to Disney World a memory that we will never forget. You both are such amazing people. Take care and best of luck to you both. Keep in touch!!! Friday, December 02, 2005-Today Krista and her Nana went to Dallas so Krista could get her unit of blood, she also got some platelets today. She is feeling much better. Right now she is sitting in the living room in Big Daddy's chair eating some orange chips. Krista has asked to take some of her popcorn with her tomorrow to the parade. So the popcorn machine is up and running. I wish you could smell it!!! We need a scratch and sniff button...ha...ha...ha!!! Krista will be riding with Snoopy in the parade tomorrow morning. After the parade we get to go to a little party for the kids. Then after all that we are going to Six Flags for Holiday in the Park. What a day this will be!!! Remember to watch for Krista in the parade. It will be on channel 8 WFAA at 10:00 in the morning. Thursday, December 01, 2005II-Krista will be going to Children's tomorrow to get blood. Her counts are so low...White 0.1, Hemoglobin 6.5, Platelets are 14 and her Total ANC is ZERO. This way she will have her battery re-charge and feel good for the parade on Saturday. Thursday, December 01, 2005-Krista woke up this morning complaining of her tummy and her head hurting. But, she went to school...(I'm such a mean Mommy). Krista will be in the Neiman Marcus Adolphus Christmas Parade in Dallas this Saturday. It will be televised on channel 8 at 10:00 that morning. Please watch for her. She will be riding in a convertible. I glad it's going to be a little warmer outside on Saturday! I just hope that she feels good enough to go. Tuesday, November 29, 2005-Today Krista was unable to go to school. She woke up this morning crying because her head was hurting really bad. Krista did not feel to good yesterday either. It's about time for all her counts to drop. Please keep Krista in your prayers. Even though she is finished with chemo the real battle is just starting...the battle of waiting to see if the tumor will grow since the chemo has ended. Sunday, November 27, 2005-I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We certainly did...Krista played football with all her cousins, Uncle Jeff and Daddy all afternoon. I was so happy to see her out there just being a KID! Krista has felt so good these past few days. I think that since her chemo is over that her spunky little spirit will come back in full force. We went Christmas shopping this weekend and everything that she saw she thought we needed to buy right then. It's really hard to tell her no especially when she does the puppy lip. But we survived. Krista saw Santa Claus and she told him that she wanted a pool table, electric guitar and a karaoke machine. I don't know where she thinks we would put all of that. But that's what she wants. I'm not real sure that's what she'll get, but she will keep asking for them and doing the puppy lip. Krista just amazes me more and more everyday. Wednesday in the hospital she felt so bad, Thursday she was so full of energy and felt great. Krista is just an amazing little girl with a very old soul. God has given us the perfect Angel to borrow. Thursday, November 24, 2005-Happy Thanksgiving to all! Today our family has so much to be thankful for. It will be one year tomorrow since Krista was re-diagnosed with brain cancer. And we pray that this will never happen again. Krista is feeling much better today. Her little tummy feels much better. I have a prayer request...Our little friend Elisha is still in ICU. He is having a difficult time and he and his family need our prayers. Mary (Elisha's Mommy) you are such a strong woman. We love you both so very such. Happy Thanksgiving my little man! Wednesday, November 23, 2005-Congratulations Krista....It's Over!!! Today was a great day. Krista received her last chemo. We had a party for her in the playroom to celebrate her last chemo. Before we went to the playroom she got a call from Rich and Mary and they asked if they could come visit. I wish everyone could have seen the look on her face when Rich called. Krista was not feeling real good, but Rich and Mary you made her day. After y'all left her hospital room she told everyone that she had some special friends that came to visit. Thank you to all of Krista's nurses, Ashleigh w/ child life and all the playroom volunteers on E10...you all are so special to us. Please keep in contact! Tuesday, November 22, 2005-Well we are back in Texas. We arrived at the hospital this morning about 7:30a.m. Krista had an MRI this morning since she was having a few problems while we were gone. The MRI came back clear! Krista is fixing to start her LAST CHEMO. We will be having a LAST CHEMO party tomorrow about 2:00! I really don't know where to start...we had such an amazing time at Disney World. Every day was full of surprises. Everything was done first class. On Thursday night we had dinner with all the Kidds Kids Families. I think the menu was made by a seven year old. But as Kidd said everything in Disney World is Calorie FREE! Krista won the talent show that night and she danced with Big Al. Then we headed to our room for a good night sleep. Friday morning we went to the ESPN Club on the Boardwalk for breakfast and to listen to Kidd Kraddick and the morning show do a live broadcast from there. Then off the MGM and Epcot. We had such full day. We saw an awesome fireworks show and we had the best seat in the house. Saturday morning we were off to the Magic Kingdom. We went all dayl. We watched the parade and did lots and lots of rides. Krista rode the Tea Cups, Dumbo and many many more. Our group had our very own HUMAN SPEED PASS..Derrick was able to get us on any ride that the kids wanted to ride without waiting in all those long lines. Krista and Shelby got lots of autographs. Sunday morning we all went to Animal Kingdom. It rained most of the day but we got ponchos and keep going. Animal Kingdom was pretty great. Krista loved the "It's tough to be a bug" 3D show. Krista was in the Lion King Show, seeing how she reacted to this show was so worth it. She was on the edge on her seat the whole time. She had to get up in front of hundreds of people and roar like a lion. Monday morning we were back at the ESPN Club for another live broadcast. Krista was on the radio and as a lot of you heard Krista's favorite part of Disney World was watching a duck take a dump. We went into Epcot again after the broadcast to get more souvenirs. Then it was off to the airport. I can't say enough about the trip. It was just AWESOME! Thank you Kidd Kraddick, Kellie, Big Al, Rich, Troy and Shanon. Thank you American Airlines. Thank you to all the medical staff and all the volunteers. Thanks Rich and Mary you both helped make this trip extra special for Krista and Shelby. Mary, thanks for being there for Shelby to talk to. Rich, your a very special person. You know just what the kids are thinking. Krista has not stopped talking about you! Thank you to everyone that helped make this trip possible. We love you all! Check www.kiddskidds.com for pictures of the trip. Sunday, November 20, 2005- Today it rained nearly all day but they bought ponchos and kept going. They took a safari ride and it was great they spent the day in Animal Kingdom. Krista was feeling good Janice said. Tomorrow they come home at least Shelby and Justin. Krista and Janice will stay in Dallas so Krista can be there to get her LAST CHEMO TREATMENT YEAH!!!!Hopefully they will have pictures to show you soon. Thanks again to everyone who made this trip possible. God Bless all Saturday, November 19, 2005- Today they spent the day with Rich and his wife Mary. Rich is one of the Kidd Kraddick DJ's. They spent all day at Magic Kingdom. Justin said it has been off the hook day for them. Krista is feeling pretty good today. Having a great time,They will be at Animal Kingdom tomorrow, and breakfast with the Disney characters in the morning. Thanks again for all the prays that help Krista get to Disney World. Friday, November 18, 2005-Just got off the phone with the Brewers. They are having a great time. They spent most of the day at Epcot center and MGM. They had just watched the fireworks. Tomorrow they will go to Magic Kingdom. If you go to kiddskids.com you can see pictures of the kidds kids at the airport. Krista might be live on the radio 106.1 morning show Monday. Janice said try and tune in for the sound bite...not sure what that is. Our little friend Elisha had to be sent to ICU please pray for him. Thursday, November 17, 2005-Well I'm going to try and update for Janice while they are gone. They arrived this afternoon as soon as they got off the plane at Disney World they all received GOLD MICKEY EARS! YEAH!!! They had a talent contest tonight and Krista won singing Shania Twain Gonna get ya good. The radio station 106.1 Kidd Kraddick will be live from Disney tomorrow morning from 7:00 to 10:00 they will be talking to some of the kids and parents. Listen for Krista I'm sure if she can she will be on. Please continue to pray for her she is still not 100% and little unstable today. But I know they will have the time of their lives. Thursday, November 17, 2005-As I sit here typing this update I would have never thought I would be HOME right now. After the doctors came in a told Krista that she could NOT go to Disney World she cried for two hours. Krista wrote a letter to Kidd Kraddick and told him that she would not be able to go on the trip and to take lots of pictures for her and bring her back some Golden Mickey Ears. That letter crushed my heart. How in the world could they tell her that she could not go? I think it was harder for her to hear that she could not go to Disney World than it was to tell her that she had Cancer! After several hours went by they came back in Krista's room and said that they had spoke with the Infectious Disease Dept. and they said as long as the infected area was covered and Krista wore a mask on the plane all was good.....WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD. I have not seen Krista that happy in such a long time. Thank you to all of the Doctors and Nurses that helped make this possible. Thank you Mary for your continued support and prayers. Thank you Chalmers and Edison Elementary. Thank you Temple Baptist Church. Thank you to all of Krista's Grandparents. Thank you Morris and Shirley. Thank you to EVERYONE, you all have helped to make this trip possible by prayer. Keep up the good work. Tuesday, November 15, 2005-PLEASE HELP US PRAY!!! Krista is being admitted into the hospital the afternoon. We are fixing to leave to go to the ER. I believe Krista has the shingles again. Please pray that they can give her antibiotics through her IV and then hopefully let us go home with an oral medicine. I can not tell Krista that she will not be able to go to Disney World. This is going to absolutely crush her. Please GOD lift Krista up and give her the power to overcome this. Going to Disney World is the only thing that she ever talks about. This just can't be happening right now. I will update as soon as I know anything else. November 11, 2005-First of all...THANK YOU KIDDS KIDS and THANK YOU to everyone that made donations to make this trip happen. Krista was not very happy that she did not get to talk on the radio. I wish I could express how excited Krista is about going to Disney World with Kidds Kids. This will be a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. Thank you all for giving Krista and all the other Kidds Kids the opportunity to go to Disney World and not have to think about there illnesses for those few days. This is a time for them to just be KIDS! After we got off the phone yesterday morning with Kidd Kraddick we were off to Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Krista had to be there at 9:30 for her blood transfusion. Once we arrived at Children's there was not an empty seat in the Infusion Room so we went upstairs to the playroom and Krista was able see Leon Coffee, he is a famous Rodeo Clown, Kelly was a World Champion Barrel Racer and she had on Krista's favorite color boots PINK! She also got to see some Bull Riders. These Cowboys and Cowgirls sat down with all these children and made fall crafts with them. Thank you all and good luck at the Texas Stampede this weekend. Thank you for taking the time to visit with these wonderful children and making them smile. To see that happen makes every day a HOLIDAY!!! Wednesday, November 09, 2005-HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANA!!!We had a surprise birthday party for Krista's NaNa last night. I think we finally surprised her. Happy Birthday Mom we love you! Krista had her blood counts done today...NOT SO GOOD... everything went up except for the Hemoglobin it went down to 6.1, so we will be going to Dallas in the morning for a blood transfusion after Krista speaks with Kidd Kraddick and the Morning Show about the Kidds Kids trip to Walt Disney World. I am very glad that they decided to do this. This will Krista that extra little kick that she will need for the trip. But, I am also a little sad, Thursday is Shelby's first basketball game and I will miss it. Justin will be going to watch her and record it for us. Good Luck Shelby!!! I love you!!! Tuesday, November 08, 2005II-Krista and I have applied to be Ambassadors for the American Cancer Society. They will be going to Washington D.C. next September for Celebration on the Hill. This is the perfect time for us to speak with our Congressmen about Funding for Cancer Research. Keep your fingers crossed that we make it!!! I almost forgot. ....Krista has been choosen to be in the Neiman Marcus Adolphus Christmas Parade on Dec. 3rd at 10 a.m. Don't forget to watch for her!!! Tuesday, November 08, 2005-Krista will be on the Kidd Kraddick show on KISS FM Thursday morning. I don't know any exact time but somewhere around 7:00-7:45 A.M. This is going to be their Kidds Kids Day. They need help raising money for this trip. They will be taking about 45 families. I can not image how much that all cost. You can go to www.kiddskids.com to learn more about the great organization. Please listen Thursday morning if you get a chance. It always scares me when Krista is on the radio because I never real sure what she will say. Thank you to everyone for your continued support and prayers. We love reading all the messages from all of you! It brightens some of my darkest days. Please keep all of friends above in your thoughts and prayers. We love you all!!! Monday, November 07, 2005-The Walt Disney World count down is on....only 9 days left and also the count down for Krista's LAST CHEMO....15 days left!!! I finally went to the doctor. He gave me an antibiotic and cough medicine. Now Krista and Shelby both are coughing. We had a full weekend...on the go the whole time. We took Krista is see CHICKEN LITTLE yesterday, it is a very cute movie. Friday, November 04, 2005-Yesterday Krista asked the question, "If I die would you be sad?" I also found out that on Halloween she told her Daddy this would be the last Halloween she ever had. We have asked her if anyone has be talking about this and where in the world did she hear this? This is something that an 8 year old little girl should not have to worry about. This just absolutely broke my heart. I wish I had half the strength of this little girl. She has such a strong spirit, but lately it's been a little low. She never complains....except when we are out of pepperonis or Dublin Dr. Peppers. Please pray for Krista! Thursday, November 03, 2005II-Krista's counts have come in.....White count is 0.2, Hemoglobin is 6.8, Platelets are 13 and her total ANC is 16. They said to watch for bruising and keep an eye out for more fever. Krista is be confined to the house for a couple of days. The longer she is on this medicine the harder it has become for her to recover. Please pray that Krista will make quick recovery with her counts. Please don't forget to send Krista a message on her guest book!!! Thursday, November 03, 2005-Krista is running a low grade fever right now, so she was unable to go to school this morning. She is also pretty lethargic. She has not been her bubbly self. I am waiting on the hospital to call with her counts from yesterday. Please pray that Krista's counts are O.K. and that we will not have to be admitted to the hospital. Monday, October 31, 2005-HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! What a weekend we had. Saturday we had a booth at a Fall Festival selling our "Eye-Deaux-No" Salsa and Pickled items, that was an all day affair. Sunday was spent shopping for comfy shoes for Disney World and then we went to the Fall Festival that First Baptist Church puts on every year. Krista went dressed as a Texas Longhorn Cheerleader and Shelby was a Jr. High Football player. The girls had very busy but FUN weekend. Krista is felling pretty good. She does not have much of an appetite. Be safe out there tonight!!! Friday, October 28, 2005 II-The question has been asked, What are the doctors saying now that Krista's treatment is coming to an end. Well, the short story of it is...from what I got out of the conservation is that Krista's tumor has a good chance of continued growth after treatment has stopped. The protocol that she is on right now requires them to stop treatment at this time because of the severe side affects. Dr. Bowers did mention a treatment called "Accutane", Accutane is used to treat severe acne. They are currently doing a study on Accutane to treat brain tumors. So this will be something that will be questionable if we need it. Krista will have a MRI every 3 months...so we will live day and day, celebrating everyday like it is a holiday. Krista still needs you to lift her up in prayer. Thank you all for all you have done. We love you all!!! Friday, October 28, 2005-Please check out www.kiddlive.com or you can go to the THANKS page on Krista's main website and click on Kidd Kraddick. Krista and Shelby will be selling "PURPLE POWER" Gum Balls as a fund raiser for "The Misfits" Relay For Life team. You get 4 purple gum balls for a $1. If you are interested please let us know. Wednesday, October 26, 2005-It's 11:07 p.m. and we are just now getting home from chemo. The whole admission process on Tuesday was forever long. We waited about 6 hours to get a room. Then once we finally got in our room our TV had no sound...Krista said "that really sucked!" After Krista received her Flu Shot...that she fought so hard not to get this evening we went downstairs to one of the meeting rooms in the hospital and we got to meet with Kidd Kraddick, Kelley and Big Al they were there talking about the Kidd's Kids trip. Krista was so excited to see them all but mostly Kelley....but don't tell Kidd and Al that. Krista and Kelley have a date to ride Dumbo once we all get to Disney World. Well it's time for this Momma to go to bed!!! Monday, October 24, 2005-I have a prayer request for Kay Allen I use to work with her husband. Kay has been very ill and in the Baylor Hospital. Please keep Jim, Kay and their family in your thoughts and prayers. Krista had another really good weekend. This week is at school is Drug awareness week. Today all the kids were to wear pink. "Pink is HOT, Drugs are NOT!" The school is doing this theme in honor of Krista. So today everyone was to wear pink. Well Krista being the queen of pink she had pink on from head to toe. She even had on pink hair....what a sight that was. Thank you everyone at Chalmers! Krista loves you all. Krista will be going in the morning for chemo. Only one more treatment after this one. Please pray that all goes well for Krista while we are at the hospital. I will updated as soon as we get a room. Thursday, October 20, 2005-Krista is feeling GREAT! She is actually eating somewhat. I really don't have much to say this time. Krista has chemo next week and then just one more round!!! Krista has been so strong through all of this. Justin is feeling much better now. Please keep Jacob Duckworth in your thoughts and prayers he is back in the hospital. Tuesday, October 18, 2005-We just got back from Dallas Krista's MRI results were good. The tumor is still stable. We stopped at Chuck E. Cheese on the way home and Krista ate some sweet cheese pizza and played lots of games. She is feeling much better here lately. I wish I could say the same for her Daddy. Somebody please tell Justin to go to the DOCTOR!!! Monday, October, 17, 2005-Today is Justin's Birthday. Hope you have a great day off and catch lots of fish. We love Daddy!!! Krista has an MRI in the morning....keep your fingers crossed all is good. Saturday, October 15, 2005- Krista had the time of her life last night. We went and watch the Gainesville Leopards beat Pilot Point. Go to go Big Red!!! Krista was able to meet with Kolby Kuykendall at halftime. He picked her up and they both just smiled as I took a picture. Thank you Shari Kuykendall, Amber Ivy, Coach Ivy and Kolby. Kolby you have made such an impact on Krista, and for that I will always be grateful. Friday, October 14, 2005-I write this with a sad and heavy heart, our friend Jerome Wallace got his wings yesterday morning. Jerome had been fighting the fight of cancer for many years. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thursday, October 13, 2005-Krista had some visitors the other night. Madison and her mom Mrs. Thomason came over with their little weenie dog Sadie. Sadie and Amber are sisters. They were so cute together. Mrs. Thomason brought over 2 cases of Dublin Dr. Peppers in cans for Krista that her husband had picked up in Dublin. Thank you to the Thomason Family. Y'all made Krista's day. Not only is Krista counting down the days until Disney World but also for Madison's B-day party. All of her little friends will there. Tonight we are going to watch our Jr. High football game. Tomorrow night we are going to watch the High School football game. Krista is looking forward to this also. She gets to see Kolby K. play ball. She will be in la..la..land all night. Krista is feeling great. She is still tired but what do you expect! She has been through more in 8 years than most of us will ever have to endure. Krista is such an inspiration to me. She is my Hero. The other night I was told about a song called Skin (Sarabeth) by Rascal Flats, if you have not heard this song please do. It's on their CD Feels Like Today track #12. I went and bought the cd last night and cried all the home. This song just hit home. I have asked our web designer if there was any way to put it on the website. It's just an amazing song please check it out. Wednesday, October 12, 2005-We have a special prayer request...Our friend Morris Cross, his Mother Jackie is not recovering very well from her surgery. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. Monday, October 10, 2005- Krista is feeling much better today. She is sitting in the living room eating a Minnie Mouse Cookie. And she has just asked "What's for dinner?"...WOW...my child is wanting to eat that's a miracle. Krista got an invitation to a Madison's birthday party this weekend she is so excited. She did the Happy Dance when I told her that she could go. Happy 9th Birthday Madison!!! I want to give a shout out to our new friends, the American Cancer Society's Heroes of Hope. Each and very one of you are such an inspiration to us all. Keep up the good work. Let's make sure that our voices are heard, and lets make CANCER a word only heard in history books. Sunday, October 09, 2005- I know it's been a few days since my last update..Sorry Kathy!!! Krista has been really tired this weekend. She just can't seem to fight this cold she has. She has not really ate anything at all....not even pepperoni, until this morning she ate a little bit a cereal. Krista is ready to go back to school in the morning. I do believe she is tired of laying around all day. Krista is go to the grocery store with us this morning. The only reason she wanted to go was so she could pick out a pumpkin. After searching through every pumpkin they had she finally found that was"Krista Size". I think this pumpkin weighs about the same as she does. Well I am being paged by a little voice in the living room. I promise to update again really soon. Wednesday, October 05, 2005-Well this morning Krista woke up with a FEVER. She is getting congested and coughing. This is not a good thing. Krista is a week out of chemo. She is on her way to Sherman for blood work and Vinicristine (chemo). Heidi will let me know later today if Krista will need to be admitted or not. Please pray for Krista...She will be heart broken if she does not get to go and watch Shelby cheer Thursday night. It will finally be cool enough for Krista to stay and watch the football game. The counts are in....Krista's Platelets are 51...Hemoglobin is 7.4 and her total ANC is 130. Heidi said to just watch her fever and keep her away from the public. If her fever persist over a couple of days or if it gets over 101.5 we are to notify the hospital. Monday, October 03, 2005-We had a really good time in Austin. Krista stole the show as usual. We meet some really awesome people. The American Cancer Society honored 34 Heroes of Hope. Krista was able to visit with her Uncle Dusty and Aunt Ashley. Uncle Dusty was leaving for Singapore that Friday. Have a safe trip Uncle Dusty!!! Wednesday, September 28, 2005-Krista finished her 6th round of chemo. We were told that she only has 2 rounds left. They had to change her protocol back a fer months ago due to some hearing loss. This is very exciting but also very scary. If you remember Krista's tumor fought through the radiation and continued to grow. Since she started chemo, the tumor has been stable. So it makes you wonder, what they are seeing as tumor is it tumor or scare tissue? If it's tumor will it continue to grow after chemo is all done? The waiting game will then start. Krista will have MRI's every 3 months along with clinical visits. Krista's last round of chemo will be Nov. 22-24, this is right after we get back from Disney World. We could not have asked for a better place to celebrate this special event. I can't believe that it has almost been a YEAR since we hear those horrible words again..."YOUR DAUGHTER HAS CANCER AGAIN". I pray that we NEVER have to hear those words again. We left the hospital last night about 7:00, this put us home about 8:30. Krista went to bed shortly after we got home. She had a really rough night last. She got very little sleep. Rest today my ANGEL. I love you!!! Sunday, September 25, 2005 - I just dropped Krista off at her Nana's house. Krista will be staying the night there. They we will leaving for Children's at 6:00 in the morning. Leaving Krista tonight was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I know that I will be able to be at the hospital tomorrow evening, but when I dropped her off she started to cry and she squeezed me so tight. Krista seems to be very scared, she's telling us how bad it hurts and how sad she gets. It took everything I had to hold myself together until I got outside. Thank Mom, for being there. God please guide them on their trip in the morning and give Krista the strength to be as strong as I know she is. September 25, 2005 - As the weekend draws to an end, we head into a week of chemo and traveling. Krista will be at Children's Medical Center of Dallas on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for yet another round of chemo. Then we are off the Austin on Thursday. Krista will be honored by the American Cancer Society for being a Hero of Hope. We will get to see her Uncle Dusty and Aunt Ashley while we are there. They will actually get to come to the banquet on Thursday night. Krista (Our Famous Little Star) made the front page of the Gainesville Daily Register today. Thank you Jennifer for doing such a great story. And thank you to Sandringham Students in England. These students took it upon themselves to raise money for Krista. The power of children is just unreal. Once they set their minds to something there is no stopping them. Thank you again, you all did an awesome job! Krista has felt pretty good this weekend. She is very tired all of the time. With chemo right around the corner her little body will be shot down again. She is still not eating anything but pepperoni. I am very thankful to have the Reliv. Reliv as you have heard me mention before has saves our rears day after day. How can one little girl not be eating or drinking hardly anything at all and maintain her weight and what energy and spunk she has? My answer to this is Reliv. I would love to share this little secret of Reliv to so many others. I just can not say enough about it. If Krista was not on Reliv I firmly believe she would have had more hospital admissions than she has had already. Well I guess I need to go it's time to give Krista all of medicines and her Reliv. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. September 23, 2005 - Krista's count were O.K. White count was 4.0, Hemoglobin is 7.3, Platelets are 616 and her total ANC is 2500. I really think this time around she will get a blood transfusion!!! Krista goes in for chemo on 9/26/05 her Nana will be taking her down to Dallas that morning, because I have to work. But I will be there as so as I can. This is going to kill me. I have never NOT been there!!! When we finish with chemo we will be on our way to Austin, for Krista to be honored as a Hero of Hope with the American Cancer Society. I have a meeting this morning with Krista's teacher Mrs. Morris to discuss Krista's time at school. We need to decided whether we are going to do half days or homebound. Krista sure would miss all of her friends if we did homebound. But I have to do what is best for my little ANGEL. Please continue for all of friends and family that will be affected by Hurricane Rita, and also please check this websites. www.elishahenderson.com , www.jacobduckworth.com www.justincude.com , www.braydonsmith.com These are all very special young men needing a lot of us to pray. Hope~Pray~Believe~FROG!!! September 21, 2005 - We need a special Prayer Request...As Hurricane Rita makes land fall,we have family in Galveston and in Port Aransas. They are evacuating immediately. Well some of them, Dr. Farin Smith in Galveston is staying behind with his trauma bag and to help the handful of patiences that were unable to be moved from the local hospital. His wife Mary will be coming to Gainesville. Mary, hope your travels are safe. Brad and Sam, be safe in your travels. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. See you all soon!!! September 20, 2005 - Yesterday was not such a good day. Krista had a very emotional day at school. She is falling asleep in class |
